Dr. Stephen Allan Bookbinder, MD

Okay, so...I have been trying to get help and a diagnosis for quite some time now and it's been expensive and difficult because my condition is extremely rare. Dr. Bookbinder was my 2nd Rheumatoid doctor to see in Ocala as the first one said I looked too good to be sick! GRRR. (Dr. Offenger I think?) I left there in tears ad it was a blessing I was sent on my way to find a better doctor. However, I was skeptical about Dr. Bookbinder because I read the reviews, and honestly...turns out EVERYONE at this office is quite the opposite of what these negative reviews had said! The staff is actually very friendly and so kind, very personable and they put me at ease. I wouldn't even take the time to say it if it wasn't true! Dr. Bookbinder is really a smart doctor and is the most in-tune, smart doctor I have been to about my condition. My condition can take many many (up to 7 years approx. time) years to diagnose but through elimination, some testing, and my symptoms, he has managed to narrow… it down to a diagnosis. I'm happy to try anything, he is going to start treatment right away and I couldn't be more happy and thankful that he was willing to take ALL I HAD TO SAY IN CONSIDERATION (its a lot of symptoms LOL) and really narrow it down. He makes total sense to me and I trust him because he really wants to help. 2022 will be a new journey with Dr. Bookbinder in getting better and improving my life back to where I was. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE FUTURE NOW! :-)

He has found solutions to my conditions.

Dr. Bookbinder is very knowleadgable, however, his office staff (receptionist and office manager) are quite unprofessional. The office is a horror show to have necessary paperwork done and staff is rude when you attempt to follow up. The staff alone is enough to make me want to change providers. As well you never get into your appointment on time

Dr. Bookbinder took time to listen. Immediately changed two of my medicines that he thought was contributing to extreme fatigue, he was right. He ordered some X-rays and I will see him again for results and he is having his staff work on getting approval with my insurance company to start a biologic. I’ve seen two other local rheumatologists over the last five years and feel he did more in the first visit. He is not the “warm fuzzy“ type Dr. but I would much rather have a doctor who knows what he’s doing and cares.

I was given a $50. cancel fee after sitting and waiting for my appt 45 mins after my scheduled time. They were just calling pts back that had appts an hour before mine. I explained to the receptionist that I had to get back to work, as I am a nurse and had patients. I was told I may get a late cx fee. I explained that I should not as I was there waiting but could not wait any longer. The bill came in the mail today.

i went to dr. bookbinder for years and he was my absolute favorite doctor UNTIL..he hired a female named H......she treated me horribly and i began to realize she MAY have been the same female id noticed was behaving suspiciously when she was a RX tech at my pharmacy..(id be missing meds..she got defensive when i asked to have them counted..etc)..i reported this to the pharmacist..later she was no longer there and i believe she was the same female who ended up at bookbinders..because i was on opiate meds, i had to do a urine drug screen b4 getting my meds..TOTALLY acceptable..No problem..I went in, did the uds..the nurse came in later angry at me..my so called uds was cold, had meth and thc in it..I DO NOT USE ANY of those drugs.I had produced a fresh, hot uds..NOT a cold one...I insisted on doing another then and there..but told the nurse..DO NOT let H... touch it..I was humiliated in front of staff and the entire waiting room..HIPPA breach..wrongly accused..As i thought..my other… uds came out perfectly correct..NOBODY ever apologized to me nor (so he said) ever told bookbinder i had done nothing wrong...I just stopped going to the doctor at all..take nothing for my severe painful disease. I know EXACTLY who sabatoged my specimen..and i even know whose was used..I saw him and smelled him (u can smell meth in sweat..at least i can..im an addiction counselor) in the waiting rm b4 i went in..I WAS DESTROYED by this office..Im still waiting for an apology..The buck stops with the Dr....He is responsible for his employees..If i hadnt really liked and respected him for over a decade b4 this, i wouldve filed a lawsuit...I AM 4EVER DAMAGED BY THIS DR AND HIS STAFF

Seems to be very knowledgeable about blood results but unable to smile, shake your hand or say goodbye. Was very uncomfortable because he talked to the wall and not me. I hope he can dx me but after I doubt I'll return.

I think Dr. Bookbinder is an amazing Doctor. He helped me tremendously. I can actually say because of him and his treatment after seeing many doctors before him, He was the only one that truly helped me.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bookbinder for 11 years. He is, without question, the absolute best in the field of rheumatology! He will thoroughly research your physical problems, diagnosis, and treat you with good resolution.
