Dr. Schneider graduated Baylor College of Medicine (1982) & received his medical degree with high honors. He remained at Baylor College of Medicine & completed Neurosurgical residency program (1988). Seeking additional specialty training he joined world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Fred Epstein for a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at NYU. Following this Dr. Schneider relocated to Long Island & joined Long Island Neurosurgical Associates where he became the first fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeon on Long Island and remains a senior partner. He founded the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital. He is currently the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery for Schneider Children's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and is the Director of the Neurosurgical Residency Program for Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Schneider is also Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at Nassau University Medical Center

Dr. Schneider is active in …multiple surgical societies and organizations covering the gamut of pediatric and functional neurosurgery. He serves on the advisory council of several foundations and is active in clinical research. This research has resulted in numerous journal and book publications, presentations & awards. He serves as an ad hoc editor for multiple scientific journals including Pediatric Neurosurgery. Dr.Schneider Thank u so much. For the care and attention to 6yr old Curtis Story III brain tumor removal and recovery. HE'S TRULY AMAZING, AWSOME AND HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended and appreciated. Can't thank him and staff enough.

My son is going to be 25 years old. Dr.schneider performed surgery on him when he was 17 days old. All I can say is thank God this Doctor he is through and assuring and and is also kind and caring it's hard to find all of these great qualities in one person.We are truly greatful.

My son has been a patient for almost 17 years he has had numerous surgeries by Dr.Schneider. His kindness,caring and support for his patients is like no other. We never feel rushed he answers all our questions and explains everything. We always felt comfortable and we always knew that our son was in the best hands with Dr.Schneider...he is the best of the best!

dr schneider is calm and cool which correlates to knowledge and confidence ... my daughters surgery seemed serious but after meeting dr schneider and listening to him ,we felt 100% confident and we were correct ... extraordinary surgeon and expert in his field

Dr. Steven Schneider performed a good surgery on me. he took out 2 lesions and 1 tumor. these used to painful but after the surgery, I no longer have any pain. I am thankful he was a surgeon. I recommend him to everyone.

Dr.Schneider happened to be on call when my 13 year old daughter required emergency surgery for hydrocephalus caused by a cyst. He completely removed that cyst and she is cured now. The technologies that they use are unbelievable. The endoscopic approach in the brain surgery was used which did not leave any scars or deformities. We are forever grateful for the outstanding team of professionals that work for Dr Schneider, and for his totally positive and confident attitude. From the moment you meet this doctor - you know that you are in good hands. His knowledge and confidence, and approachable personality make the entire experience so much better. My daughter is an "A" student in school, and continues to be a competitive dancer like she never even had a brain surgery. Thank you so much Dr.Schneider!

Dr. Schneider removed a large atreriovenous malformation from my son's brain. When nobody else knew WHAT it was, he knew, and knew what to do.Very confidence inspiring!

My daughter is tumor free because of Dr. Schneider. Our previous neurosurgeon felt it was too risky to get my daughters brain tumor (and I appreciate that he was honest about his assessment) and felt we should wait until it grew larger and gave her problems. Dr. Schneider felt it was best to be proactive and remove it while she was healthy and could recover quickly. He explained everything thoroughly, planned thee surgery for just about a year so she wouldn't miss school or her beloved track,and even planned his summer vacation around her surgery so that she could attend a track clinic at Harvard the weekend before her surgery. His confidence and compassion gave my daughter confidence she would be ok. He asks her about her running at every visit and we are so very grateful that he is this wonderful, extremely capable, caring man.

Dr. Schneider and his team were highly recommended to us by our pediatrician. It was a very scary time for us when we found out our daughter neeeded surgery, Dr. Schneider made a plan and explained every step. Our daughter is doing great and words can't explain how grateful we are to Dr.schneider and his associates.
