Dr. Steven Vanni, DO

Dr, Vanni did a Coflex Implant L4/L5 to open up spinal stenosis. Same day minimally invasive surgery turned into 5 hospital nights in horrible pain down both my legs and in my back and day 6 I went to a skilled nursing facility for rehab - at that point I could not walk. I went home 3 weeks later with a wheelchair, walker and commode. 2 months of in home PT 3x a week and I could walk 1/4 mile without the walker so then I did 2 months of outpatient PT. At that point I seemed much improved and had little to no pain. But the pain quickly came back and is worse than ever. So 7 months after the surgery I am looking for a new and competent neurosurgeon. I saw another review related to the Coflex implant where it needed to be removed - I assume mine will also.

Dr. Vanni is a no-nonsense doctor and extremely knowledgeable in his field.

Doctor lol more like Dr Death he has no sympathy but to him self I was with my Mom and girlfriend at the time and in front of all of us he said if I don’t have surgery I’ll will become paralyzed do to a benign tumor in my spinal cord well I didn’t get a second opinion and trusted him my girlfriend told I don’t trust that guy but still when true the surgery which he left me paralyze and with chronic spasms pain after the surgery he started prescribing opioids and made me Close to phobic, suicidal, and couldn’t sleep at all for years the surgery was 2015 till this day I still suffer. When to see other surgeons and they told me that during the time of my surgery his son was dying of brain cancer and he still performed my surgery you should of seen him walking In the hospital Isles like he was god all Mighty then he lost weight and during one visit he was waiting for me compliment him how he lost weight when during the first visit he told me I was to old for sport if you have seen this… dude (Doctor) I will advise you to get a second opinion PS after words I found out that I could live with benign tumors in my spinal cord as long as they don’t grow and I monitor them, hope this helps someone one I have nothing to gain with this.

I recently had Spinal surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital. After I started looking around for a surgeon I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Steven Vanni DO DC at Spine and Brain Care at University of Miami Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Vanni was greatly confident in what he needed to do for me. He was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable with his decision. In less than a week I was in the hospital getting ready for a double surgery. The front of my neck and the back of my neck. Dr. Vanni would be eliminating the cause of the crushing of my Spinal Cord. Two weeks later at my follow up appointment, I am back to normal. I can walk without a walker, my numbness is greatly reduced or gone in various parts of my body. And most of all my Spinal Cord is opened again. To me this is nothing short of a miracle. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Steven Vanni, his team and the services at both the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr Vanni was clear in explaining what needed to be done. It was done and the results are excellent. Pain was minimal and there is no ensuing discomfort. I would do it again

Dr Vanni was a lifesaver! After several botched surgeries he finally decided to remove the rod that had been inserted, and I have had no pain since then. Highly recommend him!

Dr. Vanni's team the day of the surgery were great. Everyone knows what to do, very nice professionals. Make me feel confortable and not nervous about the surgery. I think the doctor is very straight forward, and explained to me with the pictures so I can understand before the surgery what he was going to do. My last appointment after the surgery I saw him and he explained again what things I can do and what things or exercises should avoid. Feel very good after the surgery. I'm a very busy orthopedic surgeon in the Miami community. I needed spine surgery and went to whom I believed to be the best! Dr. Vanni was honest and concise. He performed the surgery and I was back in the office in 5 days and performing surgery in 2 weeks!

My initial interaction with Dr. Vanni’s staff was impressive, very open, friendly and helpful. Although, Dr. Vanni can come across a-bit aloof at 1st he is a carrying Dr. and an outstanding surgeon, he walked me through the procedure (L3/4 XLIF/PLIF) and his inpatient followup was on point. I must say I very satisfied with the level of care...If I ever have to undergo spinal surgery again, Doc Vanni and team will be my 1st choice.
