Dr. Sungji Chai, MD

I've seen Dr. Chai twice now and the first time she tried to pressure me into an IUD for what she thought was endometriosis (which i do not have). After I made it very clear that I wanted to have children she still insisted, I said no I was not interested only to find out she had made the appointment and sent in the medication for the procedure. All of which I had to cancel, now fast forward a year or so later I am 17 weeks pregnant and went for my appointment. I waited 40 minutes in the wait room only to wait another 30 for Dr. Chai. For her not to listen to anything I was saying and insult my weight. She does not have any compassion, she looks at patients as a number and tries to rush through the appointment. I do not understand how this woman is allowed to be a Doctor. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy

Every visit I have had with her she suggests another biopsie for reasons that she never really clearly explains. I have had 2 very hurtful and unpleasant experiences and I don't intend to schedule the next biopsie she's suggesting. I instead plan to seek a new provider. Please be sure you need to procedure before allowing her to do it.

Dr. Chai is very knowledgeable and thorough. She doesn't rush appointments and answers any questions. She can appear to be very serious/clinical but I have found her to have a good sense of humor. If warm and fuzzy is what you want in a gynecologist then she's not for you.

By far, Dr. Chai is the worst doctor I have come across. She lacks emotion and compassion. I had recently had a colposcopy done which stated a numbing agent would be used in the paperwork I received, however when I actually went in, Dr. Chai said using a numbing agent interfered with seeing anything. As I sat in tears from the pain of multiple biopsies being taken from my cervix, Dr. Chai simple told me that I must have a sensitive cervix. She spent more time staring at her computer rather than explaining anything to me. Neglected to tell me certain side effects I would have from a procedure I had done later on. Only told me I could die. Is pretty set in her ways and doesn't believe in any other method than her own. Also gave me improper instructions as to what to do if I happen to get an infection after my procedure (which I did get an infection). Words can't express enough how upset I am with her lack of bedside manner and professionalism. There is far more, however I feel this is… already lengthy. I would not ever recommend her to anyone.

I asked her as well as family asking her what I needed to do post op. We all got blank stares and silence from her. I am a home health aide so I move a lot of weight rather it's lifting, pulling or pushing. So I was wondering if I could possibly pop my incision open. This woman did not have a straight answer! She is very cold and I'm not sure why she got into this line of care if she can't be compassionate towards people that are seeking her help. I will be trying to find someone else to do post op care!

Dr. Chai is knowledgeable yet she lacks compassion and empathy towards her patients. Over the course of my nine months' pregnancy , she never paid attention to the needs or the requests put up by me. In fact , she imposed her own suggested course of actions on me. I had no say in the decisions she made for me which was extremely annoying. She is not flexible at all and dead set about her own rules. The practice has no regard for the patient's convenience and expect various tests ( ultrasound ) done at their facility. They keep calling patient for no reason in order to increase their revenue. Wait time is always 45- 50 minutes which is unacceptable. I am going to soon deliver my baby but am so very apprehensive as I don't know what course of action Dr. chai would take. She doesn't pay attention to the request of the patient and doesn't care for the customer satisfaction . As my delivery is approaching , I have no peace of mind due to the lack of direction , causing me sleepless… nights and increased stress. I would certainly not recommend her as her rules are written on hard stone and she doesn't move an inch away from those. Very annoying experience with her.

There is no reason anyone should be subject to the "care" of this woman. Not only was she rude and proved to show inadequate knowledge to a common medical ailment, she tried to hide her obvious lack of knowledge by using Latin termonolgy to say nothing in particular. Refused every option of treatment except one invasive chemical injection, which I'm being told has permanent retrograde memory loss now by another physician, said she doesn't "do disability" for a cureless chronic pain condition that she exacerbated with the injections as well as refused any sort of pain management for the internal bleeding that was recorded and photographed as happening. She administered chemical injections for longer than the recommended time given by the drug company, ignored the symptoms of a dangerous pituitary reaction to the chemical injections which I now have to learn about from another physician. This woman's blatant disregard for her patients well being makes her incompetentce quite… dangerous. Her staff didn't seem to know what she wanted at any given time including when she was standing in front of them, though they at least seemed to try to give attentive care.

I am very picky when it comes to my doctors. Dr Chai is always very polite and will sit down with me and answer any questions I may have. I know I can trust the answers she gives me. She is an incredibly smart lady and am very glad I started going to her. She is a fantastic doctor :)
