Dr. Terry Alan Teplitz, MD

Knows his clinical stuff is often unprofessional when it comes to meds renewal or taking the extra step to help u save on costs

Dr. Teplitz may mean well, but he is incompetent. He is unfamiliar with newer treatments and not skilled with prescribing the older medications. I had a long and terrible experience with him. I could go on, but suffice it to say: even if he takes your insurance, do not see him.

Teplitz is primarily interested in milking insurers and patients. I understand the need to try different medications and doses for optimizing. But this doctor insists on a separate and full office visit for every minor change in the prescription. And nothing of substance happens in those frivolous visits. Worse yet, I suspect he starts with the least effective medication so he can drag out the process and bill for as many visits as possible. I know because I switched to another psychiatrist and got much better results without all the fuss.

This doctor took my sister off all medications without proper evaluation. She was on 300mg per day of Lithium and 50 mg per day of Zoloft. He let her go overseas with no access to him by phone. He refused to allow calls although he was taking a risk through experimentation. As expected my sister got into a hyper manic state, putting her at risk. Fortunately she had some medicine which helped her. I shudder to think what could have happened if she did not have any.

Terrible service and tricky to get some extra money at his pocket. He informed me the cost of the visit will be a specific amount and then insurance I got will not cover anything. We end up paying the amount he told us for our visit and then he went and submitted a claim for additional money to the insurance company. I called him for explanation and he said this is a misunderstanding and you need to pay additional for the visit.

This guy is a nut job. He visited my mom in the hospital, did not identify himself as a doctor, let a alone a Psychiatrist. He stayed in the room 5 minutes, was incredibly rude and condescending. We have no idea why he came to see her. He billed the insurance $400 for 5 minutes. He is a crook and quack. My mother called his office to ask why she was being charged $150 and he was incredibly rude again. Don't go to this guy! He is a nut and needs to see a doctor.

Dr. Teplitz showed up at my hospital when I was at Sibley. He intended to speak with me when there were at least 5 other people in my room--so much for confidentiality. He promised to arrange to arrange a private room, but never spoke with the person in charge of room changes for patients. Yet he continues to bill me for $195 and has submitted his charge to Trans Union Credit agency, which has hurt my credit rating.

Rude-Rude-Rude!

Prompt payment overules treatment with Dr. Tepplitz. I wasn't home from the hospital three days when I started getting bills from him that were marked in red ink as "OVERDUE". My insurance had not even reviewed the claim, and he was threatening to send me to collection. He also charged me for the narrative that he dictated to my insurance company which I did not know he couldn't do under the terms of his aggreement until after I paid it.
