Dr. Thomas E Bournias, MD

I think Dr Bournias is the best!! And his staff, although calm and professional in demeanor, have always enhanced an already positive experience. I’ve seen several Opthamologists at Northwestern in the past and this Dr. is number one in my book.

I saw Dr. Bournais 3 times for dry eye. His whole staff could use some lessons in friendlier customer service. His front desk staff never smiled or showed any real interest in being helpful. They had a very perfunctory air about them. Each time I was taken in the back by one of the technicians who did an eye exam on me. They neglected to introduce themselves or bother to smile. Dr. B literally spent no more than 4-5 minutes with me after those vision tests. It was obvious he was juggling more than 1 patient at a time. He was nice enough, but for the reasons stated above and that my dry eye condition is no better now than it was, I will not be returning. I find it hard to believe he got so many 5 star reviews.

Dr. Bournias is kind, honest, and very knowledgeable. I love seeing him for my exams and all eye issues!

I have been a patient of Dr. Bournias for almost three (3) years. During each of my visits, he has been proficient, professional, and personable. He has always thoroughly explained what the problem has been with my eyes and presented a solution. Whenever he inquires about how I am doing, he means it! I remember the time that I told him that I had lost my sister suddenly, he took the time to listen to me and I actually felt his concern and empathy for my grief. In my opinion, he is one of the best in his field and a caring human being.

Dr. Bournias, MD is a highly knowledgeable doctor that takes time to be sure that you understand diagnosis, treatments, etc. He has a well run office that is efficient and provides good follow-up. Would recommend him highly to my friends and family.

I was diagnosed with cataracts at a young age. After going to several doctors, I chose him to do my surgery. He treated me as if I was family, made sure that I understood everything that was going on and was caring and compassionate. It's hard to come across a doctor as dedicated as him. I highly reccommend this doctor to anyone.

Dr. Bournias is the best doctor I have ever seen. He takes his time with each patient and explains everything well. The office environment is comfortable and the staff is great. I also like the fact that all records are 100% electronic. He also tries to save you money on prescriptions :)
