Dr. Thomas William Dodson, MD

Dr. Dodson has been treating a family member for several years. We are extremely thankful for his care. Our family member has been the most compliant and stable with medication, ever, as an adult, while under the care of Dr. Dodson. He has been there during some very difficult times. As a family member of someone with brain illness I can't say enough good things about Dr. Dodson.

If you want a Dr. who treats you like your disorder, Dr. Dodson is for you. If you want someone who looks at you at a whole person, he is not. I made some mistakes in not taking a medication correctly and he basically told me to never come back (and it was not a controlled substance). He has a very detached attitude and seems more interested in his opinion than listening to his patient. Thank goodness I have now have a wonderful doctor.

He takes the time to talk to me. It's not just medication, he tries to help me deal with issues that come up in my life so I can cope.

I searched for over six months before finding Dr. Dodson. I called over 7 Psychiatrists (saw one twice), saw two Psychologists and several Social Workers. None were able to offer the help I needed. It was a blessing that Dr. Dodson's practice opened up when it did. He is exceptional. I consider myself very lucky to be one of his patients.

I had a horrible experience with this "doctor". I had to find a pycharitrist who took medicare and there are few to choose from. I would advise anyone needing treatment for mental health issues to stay away from this doctor. I saw Dr. Dodson 5 times. He listened without offering any useful advice, and seemed exacerbated and overwhelmed. He repeatedly said he didn't know how to help me, so why was I there? Why was he there? In one session he pathetically ask what I liked about him. When I cancelled an appointment to attend a funeral, Dr. Dodson seemed to come unhinged, and accused me of "sabotaging my treatment". And I'm pretty sure that at best, he came very close to vilolating HIPPA in a much to revealing telephone message he left with my "emergency contact person ". The last straw for me was when I didn't feel comfortable following one of the few pieces of advise he gave me, he asserted that I had "disobeyed him", in a manner a parent would admonish a child. After my… sessions with this doctor, my depression was much worse.

Nice office manner and good in the smarts department too. Rarely have to wait long at appointment time. Wish he was closer to mass transit. Never have trouble finding a parking place because I don't own a car. Know that in an emergency he would come through.

Dr. Thomas is even tempered, consistent and professional.

I've seen 2 other psychiatrists and am fairly new to Dr. Dodson and couldn't be happier. His receptionist is so sweet and they are both easy to work with. You never feel like you're being pushed out the door and he makes himself available to speak with over the phone without an appointment. This is the happiest I've been with a psychiatrist office as a whole, location, staff, and doctor support.

I have had many doctors over the years but none as good as Dr. Dodson. He is a great listener. He understands my medical condition and treats me with with the utmost respect. I feel that I can talk to him about everything. He is very good about getting back to me if I call and cannot talk to him right away. I feel that my health condition is at its best in years and that this is mostly due to the care that I have received from Dr. Dodson.

Bipolar, was off my meds and suicidal as all get-out. I don't know why, but you pay dearly to find someone who will take you on if you're feeling that badly. After a couple of false starts, Dr. Dodson was willing to see me, and though I don't remember much about those first couple of visits, he got me back on meds and flat-out yanked me out of h-e-double-hockeysticks. I now have hope for a more stable future and better relationships, with the reassurance that I don't have to figure all this out on my own. Thank God for this man!
