Dr. Thomas John Mancini, MD

First couple times I’ve met Mr. Mancini were terrible first, second, and third impressions. He has only answered questions with sarcastic “beat around the bush” answers. It’s disheartening as this is my first experience with cancer. I’m sadden that his responses and extreme lack of communication has caused many restless nights. When we ask for more clarification or next steps, he has not once answered the question directly. I would never recommend Mr. Mancini to anyone.

I had not been feeling well andI heard about Dr Mancini. I waited a full two months for an appt with him. I was told that at that time, I would be having a "physical". My understanding of a "physical" is a full top to bottom examination of your body, blood work, ekg, etc. (And depending on what your issues are, perhaps more tests) Dr. Mancini was very friendly and spent more time talking than anything else. He did listen to my chest, look in my nose, ears, and mouth. And did basic blood work. A few weeks later, I received an envelope in the mail with a yellow sticky note attached to a prescription. The yellow note said "You have diabetes." The prescription was for "metformin". I kid you NOT! That is ALL I received! I know NOTHING about diabetes! Should i be injecting myself with something? Should i be checking by blood sugar? What should I be eating and not eating? I have NEVER been treated like this. Thank God for my age and maturity and where I am at emotionally in my life… right now. A diagnosis like this could have been devastating for many people. (I did not like it) With that "note", my husband said, "That is it! We are going back to our former dr. (who is now concierge and costs us $450 per month just to see him) but he is that good and thorough! What is your health worth? I don't write this to be negative. I am probably a patient who feel through the cracks. I could have called the office. The reason I did not is because I dont feel that a patient who is diagnoses with an illness that potentially can be life threatening should be notified by mail with a yellow sticky note. You may come to your own conclusion regarding my review. Just wanted to put it out there. Every bit of it is true!

In my opinion, Dr. Mancini is the best internist there is!

Dr. Mancini came highly recommended by one of my specialist as a general practitioner. Unfortunately, i was very quickly dismissed by the gentleman who answered the phone telling me that Dr. Mancini was not taking any new patients and have a nice day. Disappointing after a glowing referral.

Dr. Mancini has been my primary card physician for over 20 years. He is simply the best. Wonderful doctor, wonderful man.

I don't know what's happened but he is not the doctor he used to be. Not sure if it is him or poor management. Critical results sat on his desk for 11 days and would probably still be if I hadn't called. Call backs are next to impossible. Front desk staff can be quite nasty. Every time you call you are put on hold immediately. Very disappointed.

I initially met Dr. Mancini a little over ten years ago at the Reston Hospital, where I had taken my mother, who was suffering from an acute pulmonary episode. There, Dr. Mancini, the on-duty ER physician at the time, literally saved my mother's life. I was so impressed with Dr. Mancini's competence, professionalism, and personal warmth and genuinely caring attitude that from that time forward, he became our regular primary care physician (my wife included). Although we now live five hours away from Dr. Mancini's practice in Lansdowne, my wife and I still think so highly of him that we consider the drive a small price to pay to maintain this doctor-patient relationship.

Excellent Doc and always thorough. Thinks outside the normal medical box.

I trust Dr. Mancini with my daughters' life. He is a medical expert, compassionate and the kindest doctor I have ever met. He diagnosed my daughters illness after 18 months of us going from one doctor to another from here to Baltimore to doctors who were considered the best in their fields. He is definitely worth waiting for because when he is with his patients he spends all the time necessary. God Bless him.
