Dr. Willard Aaron Barnes, MD

I rated Dr. Barnes as a 5 star because I found nothing lacking in the medical services I received from him. The fears that come with certain types of illness can be overwhelming. His bedside manners helped ease my fears and made me feel that I would be given the best care possible. I will forever be grateful that our paths crossed and that such a gifted, competent, and compassionate doctor/surgeon was there for me. I hope the many doctors he helped develop appreciate the opportunity to have learned from and worked with Dr. Barnes. May they also become 5 star doctors.

Dr. Barnes treated me for a somewhat rare condition four years ago. I found him patronizing and overly cautious in some areas which makes him too eager for surgery . He performed an unnecessary oophrectomy at the same time as a hysterectomy, after giving me less than 24 hrs to "make" the decision, and providing almost no discussion or rationale as to my options. His technical surgical ability is not in question. His judgement and his inability to have an intelligent discussion with a patient without patronizing are. If you want a doctor to make all the decisions for you then he is your guy. I should have listened to my gut and left after the first appointment.

Dr. Barnes is an amazing, caring, professional that really puts his patients first. Being diagnosed at a very young age with Ovarian Cancer, Dr. Barnes gave me options, and worked with his colleagues to ensure I had the option to have a family in the future when no other doctors afforded me that opportunity. He and his staff are so wonderful, they become your family and ensure that not only you but your family are well taken care of and very informed. I would, without a doubt, recommend him and Georgetown Hospital to anyone who needs care.
