Dr. William Hunt Paterson

I had super bad arthritis in my left shoulder. Way beyond having rotator cuff repair surgery according to orthopedic Dr. #1. I asked orthopedic Dr. #1 “who would you see?” and he said Dr. Paterson (one T). After looking at my MRI, Dr. Paterson suggested total anatomical replacement surgery of my left shoulder and I’m glad he did. Before the surgery I at times could go from a 1 to a 15 on a pain scale 1-10. Putting shirts/jackets on, steering the wheel, overhead lifting caused instant significant pain. Fast forward to the recovery room, post-op I was given 20 pain pills but I didn’t need them because I had zero pain. Zero pain since surgery. 3 months. No pain. Physical therapy was a breeze and now I have near 100% range of motion. I’m going back for my right shoulder so yes, of course, I would recommend Dr. Paterson for shoulder surgery.

Dr. Patterson and his team at Ortho Arizona are the best at treating shoulder issues. I had a reverse shoulder replacement and was fully recovered and pain free after 3 months.

I’ve had both shoulders totally replaced by Dr. Paterson. No complaints! First one done in 2929 and works great. Can’t tell it’s not the real thing! Second was done late December 2024 and I’m a month ahead in my recovery and have 80% usage back and am confident it will become like the first. I have total confidence in him.

Dr. Paterson performed reverse shoulder replacement surgery for me. He did an amazing job. The process was so well managed I never experienced pain. It healed beautifully and I have excellent range of motion. I am so grateful. He is very caring, compassionate, addressed all my questions and made me feel as though his time was mine. He's excellent.

This was my 1 year post shoulder replacement visit. As always Dr Paterson's staff was efficient and on time. Dr Paterson answered all my questions clearly. Finally, I could not be happier with the results of my surgery! I would (and have) recommend Dr Paterson without reservation.

I was fortunate to have found Dr. Patterson, a shoulder specialist surgeon, on line at OrthoArizona. After his thorough exam of my right shoulder it was determined I had severe arthritis and tendon issues. My only viable option was to have the shoulder replaced. He replaced the shoulder on 11-01-23 and did a great job. I just had my one year check up/x rays and all is great. I totally recommend Dr. Patterson and Ortho AZ therapy department for any shoulder issues you have.

"I would like to take this opportunity to say - Thank You! Dr Paterson, PA Rabago & Stacie were all efficient, kind, and professional! I suffered for over 15 years with shoulder pain, not knowing or understanding the damage inside my shoulder and having been referred to PT over and over again. On my MRI it was only visibly determined that I had a labrum tear. I just could handle the ongoing pain and incapacitation any longer. When Dr Paterson performed the surgery 7/19/2024 (with consent to repair any further damages found) > I had labrum repair, bone spur removal, rotator cuff tear (behind a tendon) & bicep tendon repair as well. The nerve block alleviated most of the pain from the surgery for the next 2-3 days. When the nerve block wore off my pain was very minimal and I literally only took tylenol from that point on (I do have a high pain tolerance though). I haven't had shoulder pain since the surgery, muscle soreness as a result of the PT but entirely different type of pain. I'm… back to paddle boarding & hiking, and pickleball is next on my list. Dr Paterson, PA Rabago, Stacy and the entire staff were amazing with the prep before the surgery and the follow up after the surgery! If you're on the fence > Highly Recommend, best decision I've made this decade! My PT was at the Ice Den (Chandler/Ahwatukee) and Mike Rojas was amazing, patient, kind, thorough & professional! Awesome surgeon. He replaced both my left and right shoulder. Everyone of his team was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended. Great bedside manner as well. Would not go to anyone else for my shoulders.
