Dr. William C. Mcgarvey

*utp orthopedic medical plaza 2 katt* Luckily my grandma still survives after the 2.5 hours of waiting at this clinic. We had the appoint to see Dr. William C Mcgarvey for the for post surgery follow up at 2.30 pm. We arrived at 2.20pm and waited until 3.35 pm to get called for the x-ray then returnee to the waiting room and waited until 5.00pm to see the doctor. They said it was busy then, however, the other patients came in later got called and finished first. Most of their scheduled time was 2.45pm or 3.00pm. When we finished seeing the doctor we realized that we were the LAST ONES to leave the office, which mean those patients had the appointments later than us had already finished before us. My grandma's health was poor and she kept falling asleep on her wheelchair and said she felt tired while waiting. What is the point of the scheduled appointment when the clinic could not arrange the time and let the patient wait for almost 3 hours. This is so unprofessional and discriminated.… If my grandma health gets worse after the appointment I will sue this clinic for neglecting and discrimination

We put faith in Dr McGarvey's in the hopes that he would be able to help fix my husbands issues from shattering his ankle 20 years ago at age 18 He suffered daily from pain, scar tissue build up, atrophy etc. The doc was very confident that the answer to fix his problems external fixator. Hearing what he had to say about the success from previous patients give us hope! There may be actually something that could help with his daily quality of life. My husband wore the fixator for a few months despite the fact that the continuous adjustments caused extreme pain! He kept hoping the concept "no pain no gain" was true in his case. The doctor treated my husband as though he had the lowest pain tolerance of anyone he had ever met. He would roll his eyes and make him feel weak because his pain level was so intense while wearing the fixator. Dr. McGarvey has the WORST bed side manor of any doc we have ever encountered. Dr. McGarvey on each visit was short, irritable and… condescending! I wish I would have recorded some of the conversations we had with him and turned him in to the State Board of Medicine. The device not only did not fix his issues but his pain was much worse after than when he started the process. My husband ended up a couple years later getting an ankle replacement and had great success with this procedure. I write this review years later in the hopes to build awareness and to save another victim from enduring his verbal lashings. Doctors should be caring and sympathetic and not treat patients like weak peons that are beneath them! Shame on you Dr. McGarvey!!!!

They will waste your time and steal your money. Be very careful about going to this doctor or Herman Memorial.

DrMcGarvey is a great doc ...but the problem is you have to wait three months to see him and wait usually an hour or more in waiting room...what happens when you are in pain and need to see him quicker!!! Something is wrong!!!

I had microfracture knee surgery. Dr Mcgarvey explained what my options were. After surgery he explained to my husband what was done during surgery and on my follow up he explained to me. He is Companionate and did not rush the visit. His staff is wonderful. The wait time to see the doctor may be a bit longer at times, BUT I would rather him take time to explain and spend time with his patients instead of rushing them in and out like they were just 15 minute portions of time to get through. I have no complaints here at all. He takes time to answer questions. I am glad I chose him and his staff to take care of my medical needs.

Office staff makes little/no effort to make things run smoothly. I had to schedule an initial visit, schedule a test, schedule a follow up visit. I had to go into his office to make initial visit... they wouldn't answer their phones and wouldn't respond back to voice mails. After seeing him the first time and trying to get a test... it took over 1 month for anyone to talk with me about it. I finally had to go back into his office and talk with the people who gave the test. Now, several months later I'm trying to see him for a follow up visit. Wish me luck in getting someone. I tried writing an email but alas, no response. I find I need to drive to Dallas to see doctors. The doctors in Houston are great... but it takes an act of Congress to get in to see one.

We understand that doctors run behind sometimes when caring for complex cases. But when you are running 2+ hours behind and your waiting room is packed with disgusted, impatient patients, perhaps your staff could give us the courtesy of calling us before our appointment to tell us you are running late so we can use our time more efficiently than sitting in a crowded waiting room. We are willing to adjust our busy schedules for you if you would give us a little respect and consideration.
