Helen from finances or insurance, made an error when reviewing my co insurance, she advised me that I had to pay over 5,300 dollars for my procedure and then I asked her to please double check and run it again because I have had met my deductible and I have had multiple procedures, surgeries this year and they were not as expensive. Then she said oh well it’s not that much less and that is when she gave me the amount of 5,075. I told her that didn’t make sense. But she said that was my “20% co insurance” and that is what I’m responsible for. I called my insurance and they helped me and truly made my experience easy, after explaining to me that I don’t have to pay for a 20% co insurance, I have to pay just a 10% co insurance, he assisted me in calling the center and speaking to Helen for me. She then go on the line and told me that she had made a error and that it was in fact 10% co insurance and I’d only have to pay 2,300 something, which is a relief to hear. I have been under a lot… of stress with my bills with IVF this year and it was very stressful to hear that now I have to pay over 5,000 to be able to continue my journey. Then when asking who the supervisor for helen was the front desk personnel Alex he was very defensive towards the conversation saying it was a mistake and anyone could make a mistake, and I agree… but you have to understand that if I asked her to double check and run the insurance again then you aren’t doing your job correctly and it is not a mistake. Because that is when you are able to properly correct the issue. She could have called the insurance and made sure that it was the right amount instead of being complacent with the total. Because in the end of the day I was going to be charged 5,000 something and I would have probably it gotten a return back. To me that is fraud!I explained that to Alex the front desk and instead of apologizing for the error and saying that they will bring it up to the supervisor he proceeded to be condescending and said that what I see as fraud isn’t fraud, but if your making me pay up front for something and you’re taking my money … then what would you call that. He said they audit many charts to make sure and they would have returned my money and that it’s a strong allegation for me to say. He was turning red and being super defensive, instead of seeing that not everyone has 5,000 to dish out or has the ability to run their credit to go through a care card. They don’t offer payment plans unless you get denied the care card. So there aren’t much options. I decided that my husband was correct and that I shouldn’t try to talk to the supervisor today because I am already in distress about my procedure and I should leave it for another day.. Luckily I had a great experience with the Nursing staff and the anesthesiologist. They did great, Dr.Bush, Margarit and Veronica. They were pleasant and helpful people. They really turned my TERRIBLE and STRESSFUL situation in to a better one. That is the only reason I gave this review a 3 vs a 1.
