Dr. Curtis Vincent Mayernik

I went to Western Psychiatric Hospital seeking help. Dr. Mayernik's faulty reasoning seems to have led him to believe that I was lying about my condition. He told me he didn't believe a word I said, that no one in the psychiatric community can help me and that I will be in and out of psychiatric hospitals for the rest of my life. He was very rude about it and as it turns out I am far better now after seeking treatment elsewhere. I've heard many other bad experiences with this doctor. Avoid at all costs in my opinion.

This dr took over for a previous dr i had been seeingfor 3+ years. Not only was he extremely condescending but he also did not "believe" in most of the meds i had been taking for years and years. He refused to wean me off of the benzodiazepines and the amphetamines that were prescribed by my previous dr. i had to go cold turkey off of these EXTREMELY DANGEROUS prescriptions which caused me to end up in the hospital. I am still suffering mental and physical withdrawal symptoms bc he CANCELLED THE REFILLS my previous dr had left for me and cancelled other meds from other drs! He is a sick man and should have his licence taken away from him.

Worst doctor ever.

Let me say first that I went through Leukemia, so I'm very familiar with doctors and most of them have been excellent. Curtis Mayernik however, should not be practicing medicine in my opinion. I went into Western Psych for depression. When he saw me he was very kind and polite, I told him my story and he was willing to help. When I saw him a couple days later he belittled me, screamed at me and told me he didn't believe what I was telling him. He also made erroneous assumptions about my past and lied to me about sending me to get further treatment. I kept my calm in dealing with him until he began calling me names. He told me that I can't be helped and that I'll be in and out of psychiatric hospitals for the rest of my life. I've never seen a doctor act so unprofessionally. I've seen many psychiatrists since then and all have acted in a professional, courteous manner and actually helped to treat my depression. It should also be mentioned that while I was in Western Psych, he put a… patient on a medicine she did not want due to breathing problems...they had to pump on her chest the next morning to wake her up. Additionally, I met three others, independently, who had bad experiences with Curtis Mayernik. Now, over a year after seeing Mayernik, and being treated by other physicians, I go to therapy only twice a month and my depression is very manageable and my life is much better for it.
