My father is a 97 year old patient of Dr. Dean Elliott. I live in another state and I tried to do everything I could to make sure that my father would continue to see the very good and highly professional doctor that Dr. Elliott is. But unfortunately, this time I gave up. The doctor's office either doesn't work at all or simply doesn't exist. This spring it took me over 1 month, 4 phone calls (when I received completely false information after a very long wait on the phone) and a letter of complaint to the hospital administration to get a simple standard form for a patient transportation organization. Then in my letter to the hospital I wrote that I didn't want to post a negative review of a good doctor and ask them to handle the situation, but this time I have no choice. My father's vision had deteriorated. Following Dr. Elliott's instructions, I contacted Mass Eye and Ear Call Center twice and they, following their protocol, emailed the doctor's office twice (mentioning that it was… an urgent matter) and assured me that I would hear back from the doctor in 24-48 hours, but it has been 10 days and no one has called me.

My name is Lei Yan. I got retinal detachment. It suddenly Happened at midnight. I had been transferred from south shore hospital to Mass eye and ear .I am very lucky to have the best doctors and nurses in the whole world at Mass eye and ear. Dr. Dean Eliott leading his team did my surgery. I could see the surgery with my left eye from the beginning to the end. I was scared. I am so lucky to have such a professional team to take care of me. I didn’t lose my vision. The next day I went back to check my left eye . Dr. Dean told me that my surgery is very successful. I am waiting for five days keep my head down . I am going to have my normal life back soon. Dr Dean and his team are the best! I am so lucky to have their help. They are angels. This is the most wonderful Christmas gift in my whole life ever.

Dr. Elliot was able to save the vision in both my eyes due to horrible diabetic retinopathy. He performed surgery on both 9 months apart and I’ve had great outcomes on both. He’s compassionate and cares for his patients. Thanks to him and the staff at Mass eye and ear, I highly recommend them, I’m lucky he’s my doctor.

Dr. Elliot repaired my detached retina in 2021 and I could not be more pleased, impressed, and grateful for the outcome - perfect 20/15 vision now in what was a very damaged eye. Throughout the whole process I was totally satisfied with his care, genuine concern, and thoughtfulness. I was initially scared and he put me at ease. At my most recent visit, I asked if I could ask three more questions and Dr. Eliott smiled and said I could ask 103 more questions if I like - what more could a patient ask for? At the end of my visit he said I did a great job following surgery to remain still with my head down for three days. He made sure I understood the importance of my role in the recovery process as I initially thought that would be impossible for me to do. What he didn't say is "he" did a great job with the surgery! I am writing to express our gratitude for the expert and compassionate care that Dr. Eliott provided to our son. We were referred to Dr Eliott for the care of our adult disabled son. He has vision in only one eye and the retina in his sighted eye has detached multiple times. He was at risk of becoming totally blind and we were told that Dr Eliott was the only doctor in Boston who could possibly save his vision. Dr Eliott was able to reattach the retina and preserve our son's vision. Because of the condition of our son’s eye, it is not possible to predict its’ future health. However, Dr Eliott is the only surgeon that we will entrust with his care. These comments would not be complete without speaking about Dr Eliott’s compassion and integrity. He is kind and patient. He understands the critical importance of preserving vision for our son. He is available and makes time to see our son when necessary. We are confident that he will always act in our son's best interest.

Was a patient of Dr. Elliot‘s since 2013 end of mass I am here going through a dozen surgeries for recurrent retinal detachment was always willing and compliant to everything I was asked. Was betrayed and discharged for asking about my treatment plan “too many occasions “ lacks compassion, lacks bedside manner, told me that I’m too greedy for wanting my eyesight back.

Had distorted vision in one eye and had membrane removed that I believe was pulling on the macula that is attached to the retina causing wavy lines and elongated images of other objects. He stated from the onset that it would never go back to true normal but it should get quite a bit better and the outcome was exactly as he indicated. There is a long wait time but he was worth it.
