Skillful surgeon who puts the interests of the patient above his own. He could improve his bedside manner.

This doctor is incompetent, and the experience was, let’s just leave it as, “weird” so the review doesn’t get removed. Went in mainly because I kept squirting and leaking after going to the bathroom. My secondary problem was my difficulty getting and maintaining an erection. His solution was to increase my finasteride prescription that I was already using for hair loss and give me some viagra. The next two visits always started out with “How’s the viagra working out for you?” when that wasn’t even the main problem I was seeing him for. He stated on the last visit that I’ve had no improvement of my symptoms. Went somewhere else, where I was put on Flomax and will be given a CT scan next month to check if the root cause was heart disease. I noticed instant improvement after going on the Flomax.

I presented myself at Sycamore Medical with pain level 9, passing blood clots, and diagnosed with a significant bladder stone. Dr. Hick instructed Sycamore to release me without treatment to report to his office later that day. Presenting myself to his office, he did not see me, he had a nurse irrigate my bladder (extremely painful) three times. I was then discharged with clots, bleeding, pain, and bladder stone still. The following day, I presented myself to Kettering Hospital and was admitted. I laid for four days with extreme pain from a residual broke back (twice), irrigated 22 times, and allowed to lay in my waste from this duress before Dr. Hick did surgery. He never explained the surgery, he never discussed my options, and I never saw him following the surgery. That includes one follow-up visit to his office where I was again seen by a nurse, not Dr. Hick. I am filing complaints against Dr. Hick and Kettering Hospital with the State Medical Board. I plan to take additional… actions against both parties. I do so with the support and encouragement of three local doctors. It is little to say that my treatment via Dr. Hick was significantly substandard.

poor communication, tried to complete my procedure and failed, still sent a bill. contacted the office for a prescription refill, they said they would take care of it. I never heard back and they never filled it. assistant lied to me about her military experience. I am switching doctors.

My back surgeon requested a urological consult. Dr Hicks walked into the room and never got within 5 feet of me and never examined me. In fact he told me that he refused to see me as a patient because I had a urologist (who had retired 3 years ago). He was totally unprofessional and was out of the room in less than 3 minutes. I was totally insulted and then I got a bill for $225 for inpatient services rendered. After reading this, you decide if he is the right urologist for you.

At first I thought Dr. Hick was a good communicator. Later he cut office consultations short, even the last one before surgery. He either didn't read or totally ignored a letter I then sent. He never talked with me in the hospital before or after surgery. Against my wishes, which he chose not to hear or read, he left me practically castrated.

This doctor is the best there is after having him treat me for enlarged prostate. I will never change from him.

Dr. Hick may be the best urologist on earth but unless he changes his arrogant and cold attitude he will never get my respect. He asked me to go through an ultrasound, a cat scan, and a kidney biopsy without even considering the risk of biopsy and informing me about it. Whenever I asked questions about the details or reason for having these checks he treated me like I am an idiot and I am not supposed to ask questions ! He said that "things don't look good and I need to schedule a kidney biopsy" while I was laying on the operating table for a cystoscopy. (This is like telling the heart surgery patient, in the surgery room, he needs a kidney removal as well!) What kind of patient psychology did Dr. Hick study? Does he know the word of EMPATHY?

I went to Dr. Hick and was very impressed with his knowledge and caring attitude. He performed robotic surgery on me and I was very happy with the result. I am a man of color and Dr. Hick treated me with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. Take the last reviewer's comments with a grain of salt. He is not a disrespectful doctor.
