Dr. Amy Zajaczkowski Stauffer, MD

I saw Dr.Stauffer for my epilepsy(or FCD) from when I was fourteen years old, to age eighteen. Let me tell you why I do not advise you seek treatment for yourself, or your child through this doctor. I started “passing out” (having tonic-clinic seizures) six months before my fifth-tenth birthday, Dr Amy ordered a PET scan (to make sure I didn’t have cancer), and a 30 min EEG. According to her readings of the EEG it was perfectly normal, so she ordered an MRI, and that’s when she found the FCD. She treated me with various medications over the years (keppra, zonisamide, a couple of others). Despite the medication I had countless seizures throughout the years. Sometimes a few a day. Besides the treatment not working, an appointment with her would never last longer than five minutes. No matter what condition I was in, I would see her twice a year. She was never working towards a solution. At eighteen I got a new neurologist and she was shocked with my treatment history, and that I was… still having seizures, as this is “an easily treatable condition”. She re-ordered a thirty minute EEG (which had showed up positive and consistent with my MRI Diagnosis) and I am now about to get surgery for my condition at the University of Chicago Medicine at their epilepsy center. The hard work and bedside manner I have received from every new neurologist I have seen since then has been remarkable, and the progress that has been made has been exponential.

She has no eithics

She’s not concerned about her patients. Her staff is nasty. She never tries to interact with the child or talk to you about the condition or medication.

I wrote one review .. the first review I've written but I feel like this is so important and worth taking my time to write. This would be my second So I'll take what I wrote on my last review, put it here and keep putting it anywhere and everywhere I can so people know not to go to Dr. Stauffer!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I only put one star because that's the only way I could leave a review. If I could leave a NEGATIVE 5 star I would!!! There is nothing about her that's positive. She doesn't care about your child, doesn't even pretend to care. Every time we schedule they cancel. They called us 20 min before our appointment to cancel and then tried to reschedule us 2 months out!!! Our daughter has ran out of her medicine because Dr. Stauffer won't call or send an authorization to refill her seizure medication and she won't see us in office!! Our daughter was in the hospital for over a month and Dr. Stauffer did not come to see her until it was almost time for us to be… discharged!!! My daughter was unresponsive with constant seizures and still no sight of Dr. Stauffer. Do not go to this office. If I can save anyone the headache and heartache I will try my best!!! DO NOT SEE DR.STAUFFER!

After years of searching for a compassionate, efficient neurologist through divine grace Dr. Amy took me as a patient . . . like a ship at sea without a captain, I was. Amazingly, this skilled physicial took hold of a stiuation for which other neurologists held little hope. She gave me a life back as I've been seizure free for nearly 10 years. There aren't enough good words to describe this fine physician, humanitarian, wife and mother. My deepest gratitude to a person who I've come to know as not only a doctor, but a friend.

I would highly recommend Dr. Stauffer to anyone who needs a stellar physician for their child. She is a doctor that leaves no stone uncovered. Her knowledge and expertise is rare and so is her caring attitude. The office staff have been nothing but sweet and friendly every time you go in or talk on the phone. Her nurse is extremely of the highest caliber and does her job in excellent fashion. This office, overall, cares a LOT about their patients and I simply cannot say enough good things about them.
