Summary
Andrew Wright, MD, believes in a team-based, compassionate approach to patient care when identifying and addressing their health needs. “It is important that my patients trust me,” he says. “Everyone is different, and medicine is a team sport. To reach patients in a meaningful way, they should feel connected to a team that knows them, understands them and can respond to their needs. It takes a village.”
Through his love of learning, problem-solving and helping others, Dr. Wright found himself drawn to medicine, particularly urology. “It reflects my diverse interests,” he explains, “urology has a very broad spectrum of patients, diseases and problems. I enjoy fixing things and working with my hands, but I also appreciate the relationships we form with patients. Urology is a good mix of medical problems and surgical problems.”
A Tucson native, Dr. Wright received his B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Information Systems from Brigham Young University before completing his medical …degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Soon after, Dr. Wright returned home to Tucson for his general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. “Tucson was the best place to stay—we already had our roots settled in. Now, not only are my parents and siblings nearby, but my in-laws have retired here too. We're not going anywhere.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wright loves everything music-related and spending as much time with his wife and four daughters as he can. As his daughters grow and move out, he finds joy in traveling for visits and staying connected as a family.
