Dr. Ashley Austin, MD

Dr. Ashley V. Austin graduated cum laude from the University of Evansville where she played Division I basketball. She was an all-conference offensive and defensive player. After taking a year off to travel the world and reset from a busy student athlete life, Dr. Austin gained admission to the Medical College of Georgia at the University of Georgia and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2014. Thereafter, she spent one year of medical training doing general surgery and trauma surgery at the Albert Einstein affiliated Montefiore and Jacobi Medical Centers (Bronx, NY). She ultimately decided to pursue a career in primary care sports medicine and completed her family medicine residency at the University of Virginia where she was nominated as chief resident. In her final round of training, she completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA). After fellowship, Dr. Austin remained on faculty at the University of Washington as …an Assistant Professor where she trained medical students, residents, and fellows. She also served as the Co-Director of Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Physiology for the School of Medicine and Faculty Liaison for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Austin has covered sports at all levels including high school, National Ski Patrol, the WNBA and MLB. She currently serves as Team Physician for the New York Liberty. Hobbies: high-altitude mountaineering and hiking, playing tennis/basketball/soccer, snowboarding, learning to surf, reflective writing, and home improvement projects
