Dr. Brian James Groat, MD

Dr. Groat was recommended by my eye doctor, Dr. Burr, to perform my cataract surgery. I went to the Supply office. The staff was efficient and friendly. Dr. Groat was on time, very personable and professional. He listened to my request; please just tell me the basics of the surgery- I didnt want to know the details. I had my first eye done last month. He was very reassuring while I was in the hospital. Great bedside manner. He held my hand and assured me I would be just fine. And I AM. My second eye was done yesterday and I am recovering well. YES, I would recommend Dr. Groat.

Dr. Groat did an extraordinary job with my cataract surgery two years ago. He is truly gifted and talented. His entire staff is simply superb. Twice since my surgery, he has come to my rescue. I regret that in both cases, it's been either after hours or on a weekend. He has always offered his time and assistance! I cannot thank him enough.

He is late for every appointment, spends no time with you to answer questions. First comment as he walked in was 'I'm late for surgery " after I had been waiting for him over an hour!

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Groat. Everything from the first consultation to the follow-up appointment was handled with the utmost professionalism. All the questions I might have had were anticipated and answered. His staff was always courteous and efficient.

Dr. Groate is an excellent eye surgeon. He has has had extensive training in his field. He was recommended by my optometrist, having done her cataract surgery. My entire experience with Dr. Groate and staff could not have been better. Thank you Dr. Groate for instilling a a comforting pre-surgical confidence and great post surgical outcome!

I am proud to say my brother and I sought out a surgeon to help with our failing eye site due to this rare disease of the eye. We are firm believers of doing research on the web in order to find the best-of-the-best that specializes in this type disease. Based on his skills, and excellent 'perfectionist' reputation, Dr. Brian Groat was our choice! Dr. Groat confirmed and explained our disease. He then set the course for our surgeries and post-op care. He is a stickler for patient responsibility during post-op care and does not hesitate to tell you. I liked that! He cares about his patients! We each had bilateral corneal grafts. Dr. Groat also performed cataract surgery on me at the same time as my graft. His office staff are highly skilled, very pleasant and always available to address our questions and concerns. My brother lives in the Wilmington area BUT I live in the Charlotte area. I've lived many places and had experiences with several ophthalmologists. Dr. Groat is exceptional ...his knowledge, experience and skill are unmatched. I was amazed by my results. He had to fix a previous doctor's mistakes ...something which others had told me was impossible... and now I see 20/20. Truly incredible! His talent is God-given.

I consider myself a very picky person. I am so very glad that I was referred to Dr. Groat to have cataract surgery. Dr. Groat came across as very confident, extremely knowledgeable and very kind. He explained what I should expect and answered all my questions and concerns. He also removed what felt like pebbles from my eye that I was suffering for the past 3 months. I am so glad that I went to him. I would give him 10 stars if allowed.

Having experienced several eye challenges in the past, I know a good eye doctor when I 'see' one. Dr. Groat is that best I've had, period. Despite prior surgeries with less-than-desirable outcomes and terrible scarring, he was able to perform my cataract surgery and had me seeing 20/30 within 12 hours. If that doesn't convince you to go see him, I don't know what will!
