I am writing this review because spinal surgery is scary, and like many of you, I too was looking for the best of the best for our child. Let me put your mind at rest, look no further, you have found her. Dr. Harnesty is an absolutely fantastic surgeon. We learned that our daughter had a severe case of Scoliosis (60 degree curve) and after exploring several surgeons we trusted her to do the surgery. She got our daughter on the schedule quickly and before we knew it she was on the road to recovery. It has been 4 weeks since her surgery and with the exception of a perfectly straight and beautiful spine, and some weight and physical restrictions you would never know she had spinal fusion. She is back in school and rarely takes over counter pain medication, but is primarily pain free. The very specialized technology that Dr. Harnesty uses significantly reduces any risks, while minimizing the pain and reducing recovery time. In addition to the outstanding care she received, let me… mention what a nice person she is. From the moment our daughter walked in the door, she put her at ease. Dr. Harnesty, centered her attention on her and talked to her specifically. She was genuinely interested in how she felt, what she liked to do and how this would impact her life. Again, we visited several surgeons but the minute we walked out the door our daughter said, " I have to have her, please." The kindness did not end that day, the compassion she showed on the day of the surgery and during the recovery period was none like I have seen before. She takes her time with you and answers all your questions. In fact, she is so down to earth, it almost feels like you are talking to a friend. Finally, I could not end this without giving credit to her absolutely amazing nurse Michelle, who coordinated everything effortlessly. Not only is she kind and caring, but she is extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. She responded quickly to all emails and phone calls. She bent over backwards to make this process seamless. She look care of our FMLA paperwork the same day and made sure our daughter had the proper school documentation the same day I requested it. She was with us right up until the day of the surgery and even went into the OR to comfort our daughter. The fact, that our daughter was excited to go back to her follow up so that she could see them both, speaks volumes. Again, I can not say enough about them. I hope this will put your mind at rest. We had a great experience with Dr. Hardesty. We have a child with complicated needs and she was able to help us figure out several ways to help our son. She also gave us help with equipment and needs. We are so grateful to have her.
