Dr VanBeek is the most spectacular physician and surgeon I have ever dealt with. She repaired my rotator cuff expertly and I have had minimal pain. I'm 62, a former competitive athlete, and I could not recommend Dr VanBeek more enthusiastically. Her entire team is fabulous -- her PA, her nurses, both of her office locations. If you are looking for the best shoulder/elbow surgeon on the east coast, do not hesitate to make an appointment with her.

Highly Unprofessional Surgical Cancellation I completed a consultation and full pre-op workup for a rotator cuff repair with Dr. Vanbeek. About a week before surgery, I sent a portal message to clarify my interest in a previously discussed implant and explicitly stated I would defer to her professional judgment. The next morning, I received a message expressing concern I might be dissatisfied if the implant wasn’t used and recommending I cancel. I immediately clarified that I did not want to cancel and fully trusted her surgical discretion. Despite this, I received a final message confirming my surgery had been canceled just 48 hours before the scheduled procedure. At no point was there any direct call or attempt to clarify the misunderstanding. This preventable breakdown in communication forced me to restart the entire surgical process with a new provider, including repeating pre-op clearance, exams, and tests—causing significant disruption, delay, and added cost. Bottom line:… Canceling a patient after pre-op clearance via portal messages rather than a direct conversation is highly unprofessional. If you value clear communication and respectful care, consider this carefully before scheduling with Dr. Vanbeek.
