Dr. Daniel Alan Shaw, MD

Extremely disappointing as this smooth talking physician spends about 2 minutes with you - 3 if lucky, is condescending and rushes and never allows time for questions yet bills for 45–60 minute intervals. Not impressed though is CV and comments a decade ago indicate that maybe he used to be passionate about quality patient care. Note I am a medical professional myself but this is inexcusable . His fast talking confident demeanor may be typical for surgeons but the lack of respect for patients is sad. Front office staff is equally rude and abrasive when one asks questions and seems to have little time for you except when needing your payment. Not sure why Westfield tolerates this but perhaps it’s time for some serious introspection or retirement. There is no adherence to patient confidentiality despite HIPAA laws as all doors remain open due to “ air circulation and pandemic” so they should invest in ionizers, clean more and wear masks. There is no reason for me to hear details… but this was not personal as he treated all patients the way he treated me except for a sad attempt at quick humor as he rushed from person to person. This is not medical care - this is herding cattle and I felt horrible especially for the senior patients who often need a little more than 3 minutes ! He may know his stuff but he feels like a used car salesman. And spoke to me as a woman in the most condescending of terms and I was in too much pain to even respond.

He went through my MRI report with a fine tooth comb. Explaining every term along the way and at the same time, had a diagram of a knee and pointed to every section that was mentioned in the report and explained, in detail, what it was and what needed to be done. First time I've walked out of a doctors office fully understanding what the doctor explained. Felt very comfortable with Dr. Shaw-very nice and you can tell he LOVES what he does!

Dr. Shaw’s office staff are efficient and very accommodating. For over 10 years I have sought consultations for matters involving shoulder, knee, etc. The practice is high volume but emergencies are handled expeditiously. Dr. Shaw may not appear as warm and fuzzy but is any surgeon? He offers alternatives such as physical therapy rather than rushing to the OR. This office is very “old school” and not part of a massive conglomerate. High recommend.

We find Dr. Shaw to be a kind, caring physician. He shows an interest in you as a person as well as a patient. He is very knowledgeable and we are very pleased with the wonderful care he gives us.

Dr Shaw has replaced both of my knees. And will soon perform carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand very concerned on having his patients improve to his:her personal best!!!

I absolutely love Dr. Shaw and his staff! He is warm, personable, and caring...always taking the time to explain my options. It's been two years since he fixed a huge tear in my rotator cuff and it's still as good as ever!!! He and his staff got me through that procedure and recovery in the safest and smoothest way! I really appreciated how he took the time to directly review my imaging studies in order to make sure that only the necessary surgery needed to be done. I appreciate it every day Dr. Shaw...thank you!

Unsatisfactory. After initial consultation, he prescribed MRI. His office provided me with written instructions on how to deal with the insurance company, rather than take care of it themselves. Strike ONE. Went for MRI at outside facility. Forgot my prescription. His office refused to fax it over, because it was my "responsibility" to bring prescription and suggested I reschedule my MRI. Strike TWO. He won't discuss MRI results by phone, only in office. Fee hungry. Strike THREE.

Dr.Shaw performed two shoulder surgeries and repaired a badly fractured wrist on me and I have had no problems. What I felt post op. was exactly the way it was explained and he made sure my physical therapy went slow and steady for the physical job I have. Answered any questions and his staff was always there when needed,even saving me the headache of dealing with insurance over the phone. Top notch Dr. and staff.

Dr Shaw was in and out in a flash. Never had time to ask questions. I had to tell him not to leave in order for me to get any answers. I kept going back to him every few months for my knee to get drained and....the problem was never remedied!

Dr. Shaw, has been our family Orthopedic for many years, we've had several broken bones and Knee surgeries, all with exceptional outcomes. We are grateful to have Dr. Shaw as our outstanding doctor.
