Dr. Denis Alekseyevich Ostrovskiy, MD

After a lesion was incidentally found on my brain, I was encouraged to urgently see a neurologist for further testing. Dr. Ostrovskiy was practicing at the office that I had previously used for a different matter years ago, with a different doctor. I was thankful I could get an appointment quickly and start to figure out this scary situation I was in. Upon meeting, Dr. Ostrovskiy seemed knowledgeable and informative but very formal. He ordered a bunch of follow up MRI’s to be done rather urgently to help understand what was found. At first news of this finding, I scheduled appointments with 2 other neurologists in addition to Dr. Ostrovskiy, so to have multiple opinions about what was on my brain. The next day, I received a phone call while visiting the second opinion doctor. A voicemail was left on my cell phone stating that due to the fact that I saught another opinion from a particular practice, Dr. Osrtrovskiy would no longer accept me as a patient and that my medical records were… already sent off to the other doctor. I could not believe my ears. I was speechless on so many levels. The first being unethical. I have NO idea how his office even knew who the other doctor was, as I had never released that info. nor to mention that I did NOT give any consent to release my medical information or contact another doctor’s office on my behalf. I immediately called back and was given the run around by their office manager, who lamely tried to defend their practice by stating it is a policy practice of theirs that patients can not seek second opinions from this other particular doctor. This notification was NEVER told to me, I never signed any type of agreement to this or release of my personal information. My only reaction could be to ask what would they do if a lesion was found on their brain? They also tried to falsely claim that I said I was seeing another neurologist, which is absolutely not true. It is proven in the voicemail they originally left stating that Dr. Ostrovsky would no longer see me as a patient because they were told I had another appointment. I am still not sure how they found this out, but no matter what, why does it matter if I wanted to get multiple opinions? The amount of emotional stress, confusion and disarray this brought upon me was unbelievable. The lack of empathy, understanding and professionalism is unacceptable and should be punished by law. Because Dr. Ostrovskiy was the ordering provider on all of my tests, it became very difficult to schedule and communicate results. Additionally, the specialized brain MRI that was done needed communication with the health insurance for specialized approval and this became a nightmare. They would not represent me on testing needs or support me on phone calls when trying to get the necessary testing approved. I was hung up on by the manager, belittled on a 3 way call with Cigna on a recorded line, and left in tears after multiple encounters during the scariest time in my life. I plan to further pursue action and complaint against this office and doctor. Please do not go see Dr. Ostrovskiy or subject yourself to this practice (Neurological Associates of Long Island). There are tons of other compassionate neurologists who will support your decisions at a time when you need it most. I am so thankful this practice dismissed me in the long run and I found my current doctors, who work together professionally for the benefit of my health and well-being.

Dr Ostrovskiy is the best Dr. in the world. Four three years my right side was gone I lost the use of my right hand and kept falling. Before Dr. Ostrovskiy i seen numerous Neurologist They put my hand in a cast and said I broke my hand.They all said the same thing it is a mystery and they didnt know why I lost the use of my right side. I was referred to Dr Ostrovskiy When I met him he was a little intimidating he is very tall and has an accent But, he really is a big teddy bear.He went to work right away, he said your hand is not broken We will figure this out .I had a MRI and a couple of other test he showed me the MRI and said you have a spinal cord injury he showed me the MRI and zoomed in and there it was in my spine it looked like a tiny drop of blood none of the other doctors found it with there MRI S that was why my hand did not work. After that, He found out why I was falling I had a fractured right foot and no one else found that He changed my life!!! now my right side… is back, All because he took his time and studied my case . His expertise is phenomenal and he is a very determined and caring Dr. I would recommend to everyone .!!!!!

I have been going to Dr Ostrovskiy for about seven years now for different things. The first time I met him I was seven years ago I had an accident and was told I needed to see a neurologist. My daughter looked up Dr.s and came up with Dr O. I was uptight and when I met him was taken back by his size he is so tall. He is a gentle giant .He was the most caring , well spoken Dr. and explained everything to me in layman’s terms. Since then I have seen him several more times. Dr. Ostrovskiy is absolutely the smartest,professional and caring physician I have ever been to. Dr. Ostrovskiy listens to you and he will make suggestions and if he has to recommend you to another doctor and then he will call you to see how you are doing. I would highly recommend Dr. Ostrovskiy. His staff was extremely professional.

I've had migraines for 53 years and Dr. Ostorvskiy was the only physician who recognized and treated me for over the counter medicine induced severe rebound headaches. In a nutshell, he gave me my life back. I am now able to work, make plans and participate in life. Although I will still get the occasional migraine, they are no longer chronic. Many years ago he also successfully treated me for vertigo which included comprehensive testing and rehabilitation in a balance center. If you want a brilliant, critically thinking doctor, this is your guy.

I went to see Dr Ostrovskiy with good faith that he could help me.He sent me for 2 MRI and recommended a prescription that is not available. He acted like he could care less and had NO FURTHER advice. He said he couldn't talk to me anymore because he had other patients. and that if I didn't like his advice to go see another doctor . Would not recommend him to anyone. VERY RUDE

I was very pleased the way dr Ostrovskiy listened and looked at my symptoms comprehensively. He’s knowledgeable not only in his specialty as neurologist but also in other therapeutic areas. I would certainly recommend this doctor.

Not what I would call warm-and-fuzzy, but incredibly smart. Do yourself a favor and just follow his advice
