Dr. Dev Raj Gupta, MD

Went to Dr. Gupta with developing issues. He ordered some tests (MRIs, EMGs, etc.). He convinced himself that “everything was fine” (it wasn’t). When I tried to inquire whether there may be a problem with my cervical spine, he responded with a quick, “I’ve looked at everything” (he hadn’t). He quickly prescribed medication to deal with a problem that sent me to the ER, but wasn’t concerned with what caused the problem. He refused to look at the ER report, didn’t talk about how long I should take the medicine he prescribed or when he should follow up. (I didn’t need this medication because I was having, what turned out to be, common reactions to another prescription). I came in with questions and concerns however, when he finished with what he had to say, he simply told me I could go and turned back to his computer. Overall, he was dismissive, casual and nonchalant. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait more than a couple of months to see another neurologist who… talked “with me” rather than “at me”. She took me seriously enough to believe something was wrong, to review all my previous test, and go a step further (e.g. MRI’s with contrast). When she saw several lesions, she requested a second opinion from a specialist. Thus, because of her thoroughness, my MS was discovered and is now being treated.

Dr. Gupta was very patient and kind with me. He took time to ask me questions. He understood that I might not tell him all the symptoms I experienced. He encouraged me to tell him everything and he wrote down everything I told him. He examed me carefully. He was very thorough. A good doctor!

I went to Dr. Gupta after being diagnosed with excessive spinal fluid in the brain and a swollen optic nerve. Previously, I had been to two ophthalmologist and one neurologist. Thankfully we knew it wasn't cancer but there was an eminent threat to get care ASAP. The day I entered Dr. Gupta's office my eyes were hurting due to a non related incident. Dr. Gupta not only serviced my neurological concerns but immediately called a top specialist in the area. He insisted that I be given an appointment that same day. Fabulous doctor, caring, educated, compassionate. Honestly you truly feel like you are in expert hands. I received an appointment rather quickly and overall it was a great experience. The doctor followed up with me less than two hours after my appointment regarding my eye concerns and how it was affecting me neurologically.

It was workers comp case so you know how it is with these doctors and WC cases. Even if you are critical they will say you are fine.
