I had been suffering from Pulsatile Tinnitus for more than two decades when I decided to seek help from an Otolaryngologist in my hometown of Bremen. After a thorough examination, the Otolaryngologist referred me to Dr. Mattox for further evaluation & treatment. From our very first meeting, it was clear that Dr. Mattox had a deep understanding of my condition & was determined to help me find relief. Two months after our initial consultation, I underwent surgery performed by Dr. Mattox. Right before surgery I could sense his confidence & expertise, which filled me with a sense of calm & reassurance. The surgery went smoothly, & I woke up from anesthesia feeling grateful that I had found such a skilled & compassionate doctor to help me. Now, almost a month post-surgery, I am thrilled to report that my Pulsatile Tinnitus has completely disappeared. For the first time in over two decades, I can no longer hear my own heartbeat ?? echoing in my ears. This life-changing outcome would not… have been possible without Dr. Mattox's expertise & dedication to his patients' well-being. I cannot recommend Dr. Mattox highly enough. Worse Doctor EVER!! Don’t waste your time!! RUDE, team is not knowledgeable..he has ZERO compassion and needs to reconsider why he became a Doctor!

Suffered from Meniere's disease for years with severe vertigo and DR. mattox prescribed meds. that has me 9 months and counting free of vertigo and severe tinnitus

Saw my child with a facial paralysis after another doctor did ear surgery and Dr. Mattox missed the diagnosis because he didn’t even order a CT scan. He trusted the other doctor’s surgical note. That other doctor basically drilled into the facial nerve, and the hearing bone prosthesis that he placed was in the wrong spot and actually inside her inner ear. Dr. Mattox missed all of this because he didn’t order any tests. Thankful we saw another doctor who was thorough and gave us answers.

Dr. Mattox was the last of three opinions that I received over a year. After 2 hours with testing and waiting, I finally met with him. I had a SHL and basically deaf in my left ear and my right ear had some loss so I was very anxious. He reviewed my medical info and without examing me, he said that there was nothing he could do. He basically said to go home and relax and learn to deal with my issues. My husband was in the room and he and the nurse were shocked that he said that. I left upset and looking back, I should have said something back and not pay for the visit. Skilled as he is as a surgeon, he has no people skills. I would never recommend him, not even 1 star. I have never been treated by any doctor that way.

Physician was very adequate but procedure scheduling by staff and effectiveness of staff incredibly disorganized to the point of absurdity.

Just finished my 2nd cochlear implant this in 2013. Dr. Mattox was very thorough in what was involved and what to expect and took time to answer all my questions. His staff is just as helpful and knowledgeble and they also keep him informed of progress after the surgery. The staff also will assist with helping get approvals through insurance for the surgery. Dr. Mattox and his staff have restored my hearing from 39% back to almost 90% so far. I am so grateful!
