Dr. Steven Mathew Fass, MD

I had a sleeve gastrectomy with Dr Fass five years ago. His staff was extremely courteous, kind but the most important thing ,supportive. They cheered each goal I met and encouraged me on to the next conquest. They are ALWAYS available to discuss diet and exercise issues while providing great solutions. I have recommended friends to Dr Fass and they too,have had positive experiences!

Stage 4 cancer patient here, suffered significant weight gain, yes gain, as a result of my cancer. Once I had beat it back for 2-years, dr. Fass did my weight loss surgery. 3-years later I am 172 pounds and feel great. The cancer has returned twice since my surgery, but I was in much, much, better health to handle the rigors of cancer treatment. I can not thank him enough and have recommended over 4 friends and family to his practice.

Wonderful dr wonderful staff

Great surgeon and has the skills and knowledge, however he has terrible bedside manners and completely incompetent staff working for him. The staff is completely uncoordinated, unfriendly and lack knowledge on what insurances they are in or out of network with. Addressing the issue requires multiple phone calls to the office with an unfriendly staff member who always seems to have an attitude when you ask a question. Don't expect to meet with Dr. Fass before or after your surgical procedure either. He seems to forget that his patient's have family that are in need of a follow up as to how the procedure went.

Dr. Fass followed my request during surgery &agreed with my choice even months later.

Austin has many qualified surgeons, but Dr. Fass is not one of them. His number one concern is money. He didn't bother to look at my chart or my doctor's information, and without even examining me, he pompously informed me I did not need surgery and billed my insurance company $500 for my 5 minute visit. Did I need surgery? Indeed I did and am now well...no thanks to Dr. F.
