Dr. Elias Michael Michaelides, MD

This is an updated review for my husband, Frank Clancy.... Please do not trust this man's word, he lied straight forward to my wife and I three times promising that he could and would restore the minor hearing loss I've had since childhood. He said I could get my hearing back 100% or, at the very least, I would not loose anymore hearing. His statement was that I would "keep what I had or I would gain it all back." Unfortunately for me I believed him because he was so certain I would get my hearing back, even pumping hist fist in the air 3 times. Not only did I ended up loosing a most of my hearing, I now have to wear a hearing aide. I was referred to Amy Pluess, Rush University Medical Center Legal General Counsel by Dr. Michaelides. I Finally got hold of her she asked about my complaint regarding losing my hearing from surgery. After I gave her complete detail of my problem and unhappiness with Dr. Michaelides, she paused and said, and I promise this is true, she laughed at me and… stated , "Well you're not going to be happy with me either, because I won't be doing anything for you." She hung up on me. Dr. Michaelides said this exact same things to me post surgery! Please listen to me when I say please choose another doctor. Please think again, This man is an out right liar who cannot be trusted. Do not take his laid back soft spoken demeanor fool you. His whole character is a deception and he has lied to both myself and my wife about his talents and the outcome of my surgery. He told me straight to my face that after thinking about what he told me, referring to his so called guarantees of a positive outcome from surgery, and I quote "I have a tendency to over promise, that's just something I do, " Seriously? And then after many unhappy visits with him, Dr Michaelides offered to pay for my hearing aide and all my office visits. I accepted his offer only to have realized he was lying, again, instead of delivering on his promise to pay me money as compensation for my hearing loss. I guess this is part of his "over promising" character defect. He's quite the salesman and will sell you down the river. He is hiding behind his lawyer in court saying he never promised me a thing! Once again, he has lied right to my face. Please think twice about using this doctor.

Arrogant and rude all I see in all the reviews and this is not wrong. He should’ve considered to be a vet not a doctors to treat humans. Never again!

Dr Elias Michaelides is either not up to date about the risks of certain medical tests OR does not care about his patients safety. Dr Michaelides sent me to have MRI with gadolinium contrast taken, without explaining the toxicity risk of gadolinium contrast. Sure enough, right after the gadolinium contrast was injected into my vein, I almost immediately had an event of extravasation, followed by burning tissue sensations for a month, followed by diffuse hair loss for the next twelve months. Do not go to Dr. Michaelides if you want to avoid injury from a "simple" thing like a medical test... When I think about what Dr. Michaelides might do to his patients on the operating table, my remaining hair on my head rises...

I do not recommend this doctor, especially if you have love ones who are seniors. He asked why we were present for the office visit and I explained why. He then proceeded to ask me for hearing test results. My grandmother's records were already available to review or read in MyChart. This provider didn't even review my grandmother's chart prior to meeting with us. During my 86 year old grandmother's office visit, Dr. Michaelides did not explain to myself or my grandmother the procedure prior to starting. Usually, providers will explain the procedure and will give a warning or disclaimer that the patient will feel some type of discomfort or fatigue. This provider did not do this! My grandmother was very uncomfortable and he did not express any compassion or acknowledge that she was moving due the discomfort of the procedure. Even after the procedure was complete, he didn't explain how much build up he removed or mention any after care recommendations. I have never seen my grandmother so… distraught after an office visit. He is not personable and lacks effective communication. Do yourself a favor and do not book with this provider!

After years of hearing myself speak, breathe and eat echoing in my head.i was finally referred to this knowledge doctor that saved me. I suffered from Patulous eustachian tube. He performed surgery, the only option left after an ear drop solution. Perfect!

Very arrogant rude and somewhat slimy. I would not truat him without anyone I cared about

Totally Rude and Unprofessional. Very cold. Was uninterested in my situation. Told me he didn't know what was wrong with me and dismissed my like I was a piece of trash. Sent in his "neurologist" to look at me who was worse than him- a joke!- His neurologist told me to move my hands and then to follow his movement of his finger with my eyes- NEVER looked into my ears once or asked me about them! Then he too dismissed me after 2 minuets. Isn't Michaelides supposed to be an "Oto-NEUROLOGIST", guess he just wants the paycheck associated with that title. Didn't return phone calls that I left regarding my debilitating pain.

Dr Michaelidis is Arrogant...Rude.... Spoke to my 82 yr old mother with sarcasm and actually brought her to tears. Those who had great experience - cant believe we're speaking of the same person! Will not return phone calls - its been 48 hrs. Called office again only to be told by Karen that the doctor was simply not available yesterday and she's doing 2 jobs... Then she promised we'd get a call that afternoon. That was yesterday. Nothing. Unacceptable. Unprofessional. Next call is to the office of the pres.

Excellent doctor in this field and a true pioneer in treating PET.People travel from all over the country for his expertise in this rare condition. Highly recommend! Truly cares about your condition, progress and is an amazing surgeon.
