Dr. Gerald Steven Wertlieb, MD

My son had a motorcycle accident in 1990 . Taken to Smithtown Hospital by ambulance . Broken fingers and femur . Pain meds were never given on time . He was in severe pain before and after surgeries and spent over two weeks there . If I had any questions for him he turned his back on me and walked away . I had to tell him since I didn’t go to medical school and he did I would like an answer.

This so called doctor has done a crazy amount of damage to many of his patient's including myself. He cut the nerve in my hand during "routine" surgery that causes me constant pain, limited use and a deformed hand. I have had seven surgeries since the one he did, trying to repair the damage done by this nut. So, if your looking for a "doctor" who will for sure botch your surgery this guy is for you but if you want a doctor who know's they're stuff then go somewhere else . It's crazy that this guy is still practicing with all the people who have brought him up on charges, beware of this guy and the entire practice in Smithtown.

Can’t believe he is still practicing BAD NEWS does not say much for His partners that they allow him to keep seeing patients Very very sad

THIS GUY IS THE REASON DOCTORS GET A BAD NAME AND HIGH MALPRACTICE RATES . WENT TO SEE HIM FOR A TRIGGER FINGER PROBLEM , AFTER HE PUSHED IT ABOUT 12 TIMES AND AFTER I TOLD HIM LIKE WHATS THE DEAL STOP PUSHING MY FINGER ,HE HAS NO CLUE . NEEDLESS TO SAY I WOULD NOT LET HIM WORK ON MY KIDS HAMSTER . I REFUSED TO FOLLOW UP WITH HIM AND I TOLD HIM THAT I WONT BE SEEING HIM AGAIN ANY TIME SOON , MY ONLY HOPE IS THAT HE STOPPED PRACTICING

If you want to get a botched procedure, this is your doctor. He screwed my hand up so bad during a "simple" procedure, I will never have normal hand function.. I've heard similar stories about this man so it wasn't like he was just having a bad day. He also has been su ed several times, how is he still in practice??? Avoid him!!

No regard to patients time First appointment waited over an hour

Waited 2hrs for my apointment anad he doesnt return phone calls

I have had to go for 2 MRI's, won't give me my results over the phone. Left in more pain then when I came into the office. Told me I have to wait for him to come back from vacation to get treatment options. I do not want this man as my Doctor, whats the point of a group practice if I have to wait for one.

The other reviews are correct. He has patients, many elderly, many in pain wait for hours while he talks about vacations and golf on the telephone. My poor mother had terrible results from her surgery. He treated her rudely and with disdain. He is a miserable person; arrogant, nasty and should lose his license. He has no humanity
