Dr. Isaac Kalvaria, MD

Terrible experience with this waste of a doctor. He literally laughed in my face when I suggested my problems were probably from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I have since gotten an official diagnosis but I will never forget leaving this office in tears. Disgraceful that he still has a license.

He explains problems in our language!! He took me off of Nexium, and put me on a different medicine, because Nexium doesn't work for Ulcers (he said)!! He was absolutely right!! So, much better now ;~ D !!!!

Dr. Kalvaria has treated me for several years. He is my favorite of all the specialists I see because he connects on a warm and personal level. His treatment is thorough and conservative. I really love his office staff. I just read negative comments on here about Stella in his office. Don't buy it. She is a strong woman and knows how to do her job, but would probably not react passively to rude or abusive behavior. I think she is great! I just developed new symptoms and she got me in to see Dr. K right away, even though he didn't have an appointment open for 3 weeks. If you are nice and need help, you get it pronto.

I like Dr. Kalvaria very much. He is one of the best doctors I have ever been to and probably the most knowledgeable in his field. I have only been to his office one time to schedule an endoscopy. Then, I became very sick and needed to schedule an appointment. This is where the problem came up. His scheduler, Stella, is impossible to deal with, rude, downright hateful. My primary physician called in on the emergency line and was put on hold at 11:49 am, then was sent to the answering service at noon. He advised me to go to another, more accessible Doctor. You absolutely cannot ever speak to anyone when you call. leaving you unable to do any sort of follow up because any pharmacy, Although I really like Dr. Kalvaria a great deal, and receive excellent care, I had to find another gastroenterologist because while I know I receive excellent care in his presence, I do not feel supported in managing my own care between appointments. There is a huge wall between the doctor and his… patients and her name is Stella. I would return in a heartbeat if this situation was corrected.

Very caring,efficient, thorough doctor. Easy to communicate with and very friendly office staff!

Dr. Kalvaria gave me a correct diagnosis over the phone and is, hands down, the best physician I have ever had. He treats you as if you were his only patient and I am forever grateful to him for his care and kindness.

I like Dr. Kalvaria so much! He is very cautious when prescribing medications, does not perform procedures just because he can ... a conservative, very intuitive, extremely knowledgeable practitioner. I've been seeing him for several years, and truly my only complaint is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anything done via phone! You absolutely cannot ever speak to anyone when you call; if/when phone calls are returned, they are returned very late in the day, leaving you unable to do any sort of follow up because any pharmacy, other physician, etc. that you've been referred to is gone for the day. I don't know why everyone says he's kind and listens. He was absolutely rude, did not listen to my 8 y of experience with my condition, did not even consider the 1/2 thick pile of results from other doctors (some from Mayo Clinic!). I tried to communicate my ideas on how try other tools to make a diagnosis. His conclusion: I didn't want to be helped. Really?!?!? After 8 years of suffering, I DON'T WANT TO BE HELPED. Maybe he could have taken 5 min of his precious time to just listen to all that I've tried to help myself over 8 years. Like he thinks I enjoy sitting in his office talking about my sufferings!?

Dr. Kalvaria is phenomenal. Very caring and listens to everything you have to say to make an accurate diagnosis. I was very nervous and he was able to put everything at ease for me. Wouldn't see anyone else.

Just visiting the Sarasota area from Dubai for a week when hemorrhoids and constipation flared up. Called first thing in AM, got a mid-day appointment, I arrived early hopefully, but was seen right on time. Dr. Kalvaria understood my situation, carefully/gently examined me, made prescriptions, provided some advice about travel. It's been about 4 hours since I saw the good doctor. My fecal buildup is gone, swelling down, feeiling amazingly better. I will watch some football tonight and resume vacation tomorrow. Last - cost was quite reasonable as my insurance was out of scope. All in all, have to give Dr. Kalvaria and staff exceptionally high grades across the board.
