Dr. Ivana K. Kim

Dr. Kim welcomed me to Boston and described in minute detail the titanium insert procedure that she was going to perform on my left eye to prepare for the Proton Beam procedure. When both procedures were complete, she and her staff completed the visit in a very professional manner. It was Thanksgiving weekend and it appeared we would not be able to return to Minnesota to meet with our relatives. One member of her staff invited us to her home for Thanksgiving. My wife and I were very pleased with the entire process.

I feel very lucky to have met and be treated by Dr. Kim. She always takes her time with me and answers all of my questions. If for some reason I don't understand an answer to my question she will explain it to me again. She's an awesome Doctor and I would recommend her 100%

I was left in an exam room for 20 minutes after waiting to see Dr. Kim for 2.5 hours. I did have an initial review by a resident? who did not introduce himself. No explanation was offered as to the wait. I arrived early and the tests were completed prior to the scheduled appointment. And still the wait was 2.5 hours. Dr Kim was quick and seemed dismissive of my concerns. A different Dr called in response to a phone call I had. I am still not understanding the response to my question and now will go back to my original Dr. for his opinion.

I was referred to Dr Kim for a detached retina. I found her to be very responsive, considerate and caring, was very clear about the risks and recuperation required, and overall very professional. On the followup visit she was clearly very busy but also very thorough in her exam, taking a second look at something in my eye and explaining why she was taking a second look then dismissing her concern. She exhibited a sense of humor, and stood back and talked with my wife and I until all our questions were answered. I'd rate her excellent and would certainly recommend her without reservation.

I have seen Dr. Ivana Kim at least 6 times and she has performed two surgeries on me for retinal detachment. My wife has accompanied me on all my visits. We both agree that Dr. Kim is a superb ophthalmologist in every regard. She is extremely caring and very professional. She explains herself thoroughly and does not let you out of her office until you feel comfortable. I have seen her enough times to be certain that any other opinion held by others should not be trusted.As far as wait times, it is to be expected that a teaching hospital like Mass Eye and Ear requires more waiting time because a Fellow or Resident will separately examine you prior to the doctor's exam. What Dr. Kim does to minimize your time is she immediately exams you after the Fellow does in the same examining room, instead of having you go back to the waiting room for another 30 minutes like others do. Finally, Dr. Kim's secretary, Kathy, is exceptionally nice and efficient. It is never fun having eye issues and… surgery but Dr. Ivana Kim and her staff make the experience as pleasant as it can possibly be.

I was referred to Dr. Kim by my eye doctor to determine if I had a serious eye problem due to loss of vision recently. While I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and the intake nurse, the others were impersonal. One of the many doctors I met that day was aware that my eyes were dilated yet when he called my name in the waiting room, he turned around and walked down the hall, expecting me to follow him? Then they ask you the same questions repeatedly, as if they dont have the time to actually read the report that was just taken 10 minutes ago!! Frustrating, this is why I left MEE years ago. But comforting that I am not there for the bedside manner but to save my eye.

I was rushed to Mass Eye and Ear from another hospital when I lost vision in one eye. The ER referred me to Dr. Kim who was very knowledgeable as well as warm and reassuring. She was easy to talk to and performed several procedures on one eye and one procedure on another for tears in my retinas. She further noticed a tear in the asymptomatic eye which other doctors had missed. So far (a few days after the procedures) my sight is good and I am doing well. Kudos and much gratitude to Dr. Kim!

She is ignorant, rude and arrogant. Dr. Kim did not have an answer for us when we went to see her in consultation, which would have been fine, but she left us feeling more confused by giving us a possible list of diagnoses...then she offered no method of narrowing down the possibilities. She was cold and uncaring. All she did the entire appointment was fix her hair and look at her reflection! She also was quick to say that she had "been doing this a long time and have a lot of expertise...". We sought a second opinion at Wills Eye in Philly...a much better choice. Don't waste your time with Dr. Kim.

I was able to get an appointment last year for my right eye. I was told I had a macular hole. She seemed very frustrated and was short with me. She was also very rude to her staff doctors and secretary. I would not reccommend this doctor.
