Dr. Jane B Porcelan, MD

Dr. Porcelan works for a private equity group and she receives a salary from them. This group does the billing and charges for services not provided. Dr. Porcelan will not take the phone to discuss. After my 2 year gynecological exam her office told me no charge. I then got a bill from Axia for services not provided. I was charged $150 for a (five minute) conversation as told to me by Axia when I called. She has lost many of her patients. Surprisingly I received an email from her that she is retiring. No wonder. No one wants to return.

Two year gynecological and breast exam- always 100% covered by Medicare. When my doctor retired I began to see Dr. Porcelan and also was never charged. She relocated to a new group/corporation called AXIA. My 2 year visit was separated into two bill-coding charges to Medicare. The second charge called Preventative Medicine is not covered. Called office and was told AXIA requires Dr. Porcelan to charge $150 for a conversation- even simply asking me how I am, even if no issues. I was forced to pay AXIA or be sent to Collections. Dishonest not to inform of the exorbitant charge when making an appointment. Also, seems illegal. In fact, I called Medicare and it is!! Will pursue this. Will never see Dr. Porcelan again.

For years I’ve been seeing Dr. Porcelan and Medicare fully paid for my Gynecological and Breast exam every two years. Now she works for AXIA Women’s Health--a huge corporation. Just saw her and when I was leaving I was told visit was covered- NO CHARGE. I was later billed for $150. I called office and was told that charge is AXIA’s requirement that doctor must have a conversation and charge is $150 for it. If I do not pay I will be sent to collections. I called Medicare and was told that Medicare does not cover the conversation that she separately coded for the same visit as “preventative medicine.” I am looking for another doctor not affiliated with AXIA and then will not be charged to converse. Why wasn’t I informed beforehand of the charge? Not right!!!

Dr. Porcelan now works for AXIA Women's Health. There is no charge from Medicare for pelvic & mammogram exam every 2 years. When I left after exam, I was told there is no charge. I then received a bill for $150. AXIA requires that Dr. Porcelan must have a conversation for which she must charge. All she did was ask me how I was doing- lasted less that 5 minutes. I called office & was told if I did not pay, my bill will be sent to collections & I would lose my credit rating. Therefore, I paid. The same experience occurred to 3 of my friends. We all are looking for another gynecologist who is not with AXIA. Unfortunately, we all had to pay $150. Dr. Porcelan should inform patients of the charge before an appointment takes place.

Dr. Porcelan should never treat people who aren't sexually active. I was her patient in my late teens. I experienced trauma multiple times in her care. She shamed me for being a virgin, including being rough, insulting, and violating during examination. I have carried the impact of her clinical abuse for well over a decade. It has compromised my confidence in my own body, my trust in any gynecologist, and my enjoyment of loving sexual relationships.

Dr Porcelan was awesome! Very thorough, kind and gentle!

I found her to be very thorough. She knew exactly the problem - gave me two options, took the easy way out for 8 months then ended up having surgery with the dr. she recommended at paoli and could not be happier. I found her humor to be dry but funny - my first visit she like my shoes!! Some of these very rude comments I have to question.

Doctor Porcelan was sympathetic as I was going through a difficult separation.She took the time to listen,was reassuring and gave me good advice.Great doctor!

Dr Porcelan has been my doctor for 20 years.She diagnosed a serious problem ,Saw me through it in the most caring way,checking in with me in off hours.She is the best and I will always be grateful to her for her care and concern

She has bad bedside manners and I heard her talking about patients, myself included while I was waiting to check out. She was rough with her handling, measuring, etc. She advised I don't get a doula, that it would be a waste of money when studies clearly show that what you pay into a doula pays you back trifold and significantly reduces your chances of a csection. She is unprofessional, inconsiderate, uncompassionate, rushed, and rude. She does not care about the patient or their concerns/interests.
