Dr. Jay Chun, MD

I was referred to Dr. Jason Y. Chun by two close personal and business contacts who each described him as a Best in Class neurosurgeon. Both had undergone minimally invasive spine surgeries with him—one over several years due to a chronic condition, and the other after being rushed to the hospital by ambulance when a ruptured disc left him immobile. That friend was walking and back at his desk job within two weeks. His chronic pain was gone. Their results were remarkable. Before meeting Dr. Chun, I had spent nearly three years consulting with three orthopedic surgeons, undergoing injections, physical therapy, and pain management treatments after a lumbar injury from an accident. Each orthopedic surgeon recommended extensive ALIF (anterior lumbar interbody fusion) procedures. But when I pressed for long term prognosis, risks, and recovery expectations, I received vague answers, rushed explanations, and very little detail. I left each consultation feeling more uncertain than… before. Over 18 months, I researched every option I could find. I wanted to make the right decision for me, not be pushed into a surgery I didn’t fully understand. Meeting Dr. Chun was a completely different experience. He listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions, and genuinely wanted to understand my journey — what had helped, what hadn’t, how I felt, and what I hoped to achieve. He agreed immediately: the final decision was mine, and he would give me every fact I needed to make it. Ultimately, we spoke about and I opted for the minimally invasive surgery, specifically a TLIF (Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion). His bedside manner is relaxed, personable, and even funny at times, but he is also extremely serious about his craft. When I finally reached my pain threshold and called to say, “I’m ready,” his office moved quickly and professionally. Insurance approvals, pre operative testing, scheduling—everything was handled with care and constant communication. His team deserves special recognition. • Carl Stopper, Nurse Practitioner and surgical assistant, is as meticulous and knowledgeable as Dr. Chun. • Ivette Pineda coordinated insurance and pre op requirements with precision. • Delaney Vinaixa supported every appointment and follow up with genuine care. They are a cohesive, highly effective team. I did experience some administrative bumps along the way—none caused by Dr. Chun’s office—but his staff stayed on top of every issue so I could focus on preparing for surgery rather than fighting through red tape. Dr. Chun expects his patients to follow instructions exactly, and for good reason: he and his team are deeply invested in your recovery. If you don’t follow the plan, they will know—and they will hold you accountable because they want the best possible outcome for you. Their guidance is what ensures success. Today, I am living 99% pain free from the surgery. My mobility, comfort, and quality of life have improved dramatically. I only wish I had found Dr. Chun sooner. This minimally invasive surgery changed my life, and choosing this path was absolutely the right decision for me. I have already referred several coworkers, friends, and family members to Dr. Chun. Dr Chun has saved my spine 2x so far. He has always gone above and beyond to ensure I am provided with the information and level of care I needed. He has acted with urgency when the situation has called for it and I am so grateful for his expertise and care.

Dr. Chun is a really wonderful doctor who is patient and caring. He spent the necessary time with me and I didn't feel rushed, at all. The surgery that he preformed on me was successful and I'm feeling a lot better. I would highly recommend Dr. Chun to anyone who might have back issues!

Incredible Surgeon. Confident, with the ego, both of my Surgery's went very well, neck Surgery then lower back surgery. Both came out with no pain full movement no restrictions on movemcut my life back!!

He was very thorough went over everything with me. Took his time and explained what was going on with my neck and discs and how we would proceed. Had MRI done on lower back area which I have very much pain in (hurts the most) and wish we could have discussed that a little more so I knew what was going on with that.

Dr. Chun and his staff under same umbrella are God sent. He's logical and matter of fact. Gives you all options without any fluff, but if you have questions he patiently answers them. When you go home anything you forget you can email the staff and an answer or resolution will be delivered in a timely manner. I can to him during a dark time and he always reassured that my goals will be fought for. I can't say enough nice things about Dr. Chun. What I can say is he is a good Neurosurgeon and he won't give up you.
