Dr. Grasinger put in an implant that was too large, not aligned properly and he used an old implant that contained nickel to which I am highly allergic to. I reminded him less than two weeks before my surgery that I was allergic to nickel and after 8 months when I was not getting better, I asked if the implant might contain nickel and his response was, "I don't know, guess I'll have to look that up." He never mentioned it again.Even after getting a second opinion from another orthopedic surgeon that he sent me to stated that I needed a full revision, Dr. Grasinger told me that the other dr. didn't say that (he was reading the letter the other dr. sent in front of my husband and myself) but said he should open me back up to remove scar tissue and maybe shave down a little more of the bone. I asked the other dr. for a copy of the letter and when I read it, he did indeed say that I needed a full revision because the implant was to big and no amount of physical therapy would help fix… it. Which is exactly what Dr. Grasinger told me to keep on doing - he said to keep doing my exercises at home and eventually I "would get there". He knew that was not going to happen without the revision which is why he only took x-rays once and only had blood work done once about a year after surgery.If you only need an orthopedic to provide your prescriptions, give shots, etc. then this is the dr. for you but if you need knee or hip replacement surgery, I think I'd keep looking.
