Dr. Jonathan Henry Segal, MD

Top notch.

He cares about what I am going through and he isn't very pushy in making me do exxactly what he says, he listens to me first. When I had a problem with my husband he listened even though it wasn't about my sickeness. He is nice and I think he is also knowledgable about psychology.

I am not a patient, but I am the daughter of a patient. Dr. Segal has been a life savior to my small family. Before my mom was diagnosed with a mood disorder, Dr. Segal was incredibly helpful urging me to wait and give him time to stabilize my mother before I was ready to ship her back to South America. He has always been professional, available, and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Segal.

He's a great doctor.

Overall, I have a high opinion of Dr. Segal. Not everyone can be at the top of their game all of the time, and so sometimes I see Dr. Segal and the visits are excellent and other times, he seems to be a bit "off." Like he's preoccupied, which he very well may be given the nature of his work and the fact that PAMF pushes many patients through their clinic each day.Overall, the psychiatry department of PAMF is great. The office staff is friendly and making an appointment is easy and painless. This clinic also offers great outpatient therapy groups; Dr. Segal appropriately recommended one of these as a good complement to my medication.I would recommende Dr. Segal and the PAMF psychiatry department at its Palo Alto location to my friends and family.

My experience with Dr. Segal has been very disapointing due to the fact that he is not realy interested to what you say at the time you need the most.Always in hurry with very aggresive manner, such as "I am telling you" or I do not have time".In additions his service charge is extreemly high for what he is delivering or providing to the patient.

Dr. Segal is my favorite psychiatrist of any of the many psychiatrists I have seen in the 30 years since I have been diagnosed.He is empathetic, but he will be stern if he thinks you aren't doing all you can to get better. He is personable, and he knows what he is doing. I have had famous academic psychiatrists treat me in the past, yet I like him better

Dr. Segal finally figured out meds for me that work. He helped me get off one medication with dreadful sideffects, and I felt he was kind and helpful and willing to talk and listen.

I saw this doctor 5 years ago and the experience still grates me every time I think about it. I have an ongoing anxiety problem and obtained a prescription for an SSRI from him. On starting med I was extraordinarily nervous, almost out of control due to effects of the drug. At the same time I got a jury duty notice and called him to get an excuse. He lectured me on not usually doing it and told me he wouldn't do it again. His letter explicitly instructed the court that I would be ready to be re-enrolled in jury duty within 6 months. Altogether a humiliating and almost unbelievably uncaring episode. Do not use this doctor if you expect empathy. He also has an abrupt and insensitive manner. Find someone else.
