Dr. Jorge Arroyo Jr, MD

My experience with this provider was deeply troubling. Despite being in my mid-40s with a documented medical and family history that affects vision, I was repeatedly told I was "too young" to have any eye issues. This showed a clear lack of clinical reasoning and reflected both age-related bias and a dismissive attitude—particularly toward a woman expressing valid medical concerns. When I asked specific clinical questions about diagnostic criteria and appropriate testing, the provider brushed me off. He demonstrated a willful refusal to engage clinically, failing to offer any reasonable explanation for why my symptoms were not being addressed properly even when I discussed clicnaly facts and dx inquires which he also brushed off. He then ignored my request for addtional tests. It also became apparent that he did not even look at or willfuly ignored testing the actually part of my eye with issues. Instead of conducting a full assessment, he performed only a partial eye scan, completely… ignoring the area where I reported symptoms. Without further testing or a thorough evaluation, he gave an on-the-spot misdiagnosis, disregarding both my history and the clinical standards typically used in such cases. The doctor did not take scans of the area or ignored scans of area effected. This provider's behavior felt not only dismissive but overtly biased and negligent. The refusal to investigate legitimate concerns or provide a rational basis for decisions raises serious red flags about the quality and safety of care being provided. I strongly urge others to seek care elsewhere.

Dr. Arroyo is the perfect retina specialist: extremely skilled as a surgeon, very knowledgeable, and most importantly excellent bedside manner and patience. I have been his patient for many years, and he has not once failed to impress me with his work. I highly recommend if your are able to get an appointment with him. Furthermore, I'm confused why there are so many 1 star reviews. The fact they all have 0 commentary makes them more suspicious.

Dr. Arroyo and all his office staff are very professional and knowledgable. Can not ask for better. The wait can be a bit lengthy at times(not always) although well worth the wait considering how precious your eyes are. You definately are in good hands when you go see Dr. Arroyo and his staff.

I sought out Dr. Arroyo when I had an unusual condition in my retina that my doctors in Chicago weren't able to conquer. He ended up performing retinal surgery on my left eye. The surgery was successful and Dr. Arroyo really took the time to care for me and explain my options along the way. He was worth the trip to Boston! An excellent doctor who is really up to speed on the latest developments in retinal care. Can't say enough good things about him.
