Dr. Keith Pinkney Mankin, MD

He ruined my arm. I was 14 years old had a terrible compounded fracture. He casted the arm and left me for 9 weeks with no checkups. He then took off my cast and it was deformed. He said it was normal. After seeing two renowned orthopedics in Raleigh they determined the arm had no wrist and had a 36 degree angle hump. Raleigh hand center fixed it. Due to Dr. Mankins terrible care I now I have degenerative arthritis in my 30s and I have pain everyday. U ruined my life Dr. Mankin

My daughter began seeing Doctor mankin in 1998 and my other child still see him today. Dr. Mankin avoided surgery on my daughter until it was the only option and 17 years later she has still not had surgery. My other daughter had extra bones in her feet and there was no way to avoid this surgery. 4 and 1/2 years later she has had no pain since then. My family and I are very great full for everything Dr. Mankin has done for us.

Five years after my spinal fusion, I am still in intense pain every single day. After Dr Mankin made a mistake during the surgery, leaving me paralyzed, I was in the hospital for almost an entire summer. Over a long span of time, and with countless hours of physical therapy I was thankfully able to regain the ability to walk with a walker, then with just a cane. I was only fifteen at the time. Although I never fully regained feeling in my feet, legs, and torso I am thankful that I can use my legs again. I could also mention the fact that he has been known to preform unnesscary surgeries, make mistakes during surgery such as using wrong hardware, and misdiagnosing many, many other people. Would never, ever recommend for surgery or even just consultations. I'd also give him a zero star rating, but as this is not an option, I had to leave one.

I am so saddened to hear that Dr. Mankin has left Raleigh Orthopedic and I hope that this review could be helpful to a future patient at maybe another practice. I was with Dr. Mankin for 6 years, during which I received great care. Going to the orthopedist could be a terrifying experience, knowing that the condition of my spine was making spinal fusion a serious possibility. Dr. Mankin's calm demeanor, gentle evaluations, and thorough conversations were very calming. He was truly concerned about my well being as a teenage girl and would never take any unnecessary steps nor cause me any needless pain in a quest for comfort and a straighter spine. He was always looking for other options and coming up with a next step that wasn't surgery, so long as my family and I maintained that that was what we wanted for me. I am grateful for his care. I couldn't have asked for anybody or anything better during those exceptionally difficult years and challenging appointments.

My daughter and I have been with Dr. Mankin for quite some time now. He has completed two spinal fusions on her and each was a success. He is straightforward and honest with his patients. He listens to their concerns, their parent's concerns and he treats the person, not a picture. I would strongly recommend Dr. Mankin to anyone who has a child in need. He also has a terrific bedside manner.

Dr. Manking is the best! he performed spinal fusion on my daughter, excellent care, excellent results.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Mankin and his staff. When it comes to my child, there is no one else I would choose.

Dr. Mankin is an excellent physician whole treats the WHOLE child. Both my daughters have scoliosis, one now is a post-op patient. Her surgery went extremely smoothly, and we were very prepared for it. Dr. Mankin's involvement in Backtalk, a monthly support group for children with scoliosis, is amazing. He often comes on his own accord and is available for 2 hours for the parents, or he brings his surgical team for a special meeting on the procedure for the whole family. Without this support, my daughter would not have fared as well through her surgery and recovery.
