I had a soft fusion S-1 thru L-4 done in 2013 by Pettine he guaranteed me I would have more flexibility and this was the greatest thing since Ice Cream. Three years later my back was completely unstable cages were catching and I had to have everything cut out and fused solid. Finally doing better, but I will always have nerve damage. He also did an A frame on my 18 year old sons broken back he had to have the screws cut out as they were driven straight up into his spinal column and he had a fusion too after a few years of terrible pain. If we could have sued we would have, but your supposed to know what the Doctor did wrong in a certain amount of time. I’m just glad we can both still walk.

I had a vertebrae replaced in my lumbar area & a disc replacement done in my neck. I thought Dr Pettine was a great surgeon & when I got home, I was pain free in my back. I could never understand why I never saw him during my stay in recovery; the only one to stop by my room was the anethetist, who stopped by the first day. I have to admit that I did not receive excellent care in the recovery unit -- was very disappointed in that staff! But the surgery was a blessing! The worse part was that I became addicted to the meds he had me on & lived thru a 2 yr nightmare from that! Still have trouble with my neck, & due to the curvature of my spine, lots of back pain. I was disappointed to read the news about such a great surgeon!

Pettine was always late, up to an hour, had a goofy manner about him, and left me with a feeling of questioning his expertise. I feel that I threw $10k out the window for his so called stem cell treatment.

Dr Pettine was knowledgeable, educational in discussion, and courteous in presentation of information. He is a caring, Christianly man making me glad I chose him for a stem cell treatment of my lumbar and cervical disks. Two years later with good results I would recommend him to any family member or friend. Well worth the trip from California to Colorado, plus you get cleaner air and a sprinkle of snow.

Dr Pettine is an expert in his field and has always tried to find the best way to conservatively treat his patients. He performs all kinds of spine surgeries, but goes out of his way to offer other options. If surgery is necessary, he is capable of doing state of the art work, and not just continue to do what he learned long ago.

I had 2 Coflex put in my lower spine which did nothing to stop the pain in my lower back, that was about 4 yrs ago. Dr. Pettine's personality was not comforting and clownish. His assistant doctor (can't remember his name) was fine. I went to Pettine because I was impressed by his credentials and new technologies but it was all a farce.. I still suffer to this day from back pain.
