Exceptional trauma doctor. ER missed a critical event related to a traumatic leg injury. By coincidence, Dr. Wilkens happened to be there on an unscheduled day, and caught the critical issue immediately. He swooped in and calmed and comforted my kids during a chaotic situation. We are forever grateful to Dr. Wilkens for his support, dedication, generosity, thoughtfulness, skill, knowledge, hard work and kindness. His swift actions saved my kid. We will always remember how he demonstrated so much care, concern and respectfulness towards our family.

Dr. Wilkens took care of my husband's shattered hip caused by a motorcycle accident. We were told that my husband was with best possible surgeon he could be, with for his specific injury. The surgeon proved he indeed was the one of the best. Very calm, collected doctor with good bedside manners. He made sure he educated us with the situation, what he was planning on doing and the post-op therapy. It has been a year now and my dear husband is on his feet - Thanks to Dr Wilkens.

Dr.Wilkens put me & my husband back together after a horrific motorcycle accident! My femur was crushed & my Tibia & Fibula were broken. He used cadaver bone & rods, too rebuild my leg, and after 3 months I'm starting to walk! Thank you so much, for giving me my life back! Your compassion is a great as your skills!!!

First meeting/impression is everything when being introduced and in my opinion Dr. Wilkens was very throrough with any of my questions and informed me not just with his knowledge face to face, he also lead to online information regarding my condition. He also indicated that there are nay sayers about clavicle surgery, and also when to consider surgery when 100% displacement is diagnosed; like mine. The results could lead to some minor nerve disturbance, but at my age, I plan to continue being active and I'm convinced and prepared for Dr. Wilkiens that I will achieve the results I'm expecting.

I broke my right tibia last July. Dr. Wilkens was on duty at Mission Hospital. I can't say enough about how lucky I was to have him treat my injury. From day one the care was the very best I could have asked for. His method of operating on this injury is different then the norm and resulted in my healing it far less time and hugely less painful. Four stars isn't nearly enough to evaluate this. Having him treat my injury ranks among my very luckiest days. He is the very best!

I am completely satisfied with the care I received during the year I was a patient of Dr. Wilkens. He performed knee surgery after I fell and broke my patella. After a year of Physical Therapy and follow-up visits, I returned to Dr. WIlkens to have the pins in my knee removed. I am extremely grateful for his kindness, patience and overall great demeanor.
