Dr. Mandeep S Garewal, MD

The way I am still feeling seven hours after my mother’s appointment with Dr. Garewal should speak volumes about how terrible the visit was. This was not her first appointment, so perhaps he was just having a bad day—but that is no excuse for how we were treated. I have never been addressed in such a condescending and dismissive manner. Out of genuine concern for my 82-year-old mother, I ask a lot of questions. Apparently, today I asked one too many. Dr. Garewal spoke to me as if I were a child, not a 52-year-old Georgia Tech graduate who works as a professional engineer. I may not be a doctor, but I am certainly not ignorant. This doctor demonstrated zero bedside manner. Neither I nor my mother will ever return. I truly hope he either retires soon or experiences a serious change of heart—one that includes learning compassion and respect for the people he serves. Isn’t empathy something doctors are trained in? No number of patients in a day justifies treating people with such… coldness or belittling their concerns. You chose this profession. Do better.

Dr. Mandeep Garewal(Neurologist) and his staff provides excellent care. Dr. Garewal's demeanor is calm, positive, thorough, attentive, and personal. He is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated in providing the best care. The staff is courteous and helpful. I would highly recommend and refer family members and friends to Dr. Garewal.

Dr. Garewal soaked my insurance company for 5 in house tests. He also ordered T least 5 more MRIs at a different facility. One MRI came back with a 100% blocked carotid artery. I got a 2nd opinion. I DID NOT have blocked artery. It was BAD MRI. Anyways, when I went back to review all my test results with Dr., as planned, I mentioned 2nd opinion, left room and never came back. Went to front desk to complain, no one helped. BAD DOCTOR, BAD PLACE!

Both of my parents were Garewal's patients. In a total of 6 visits to his office, one of them saw him exactly one time. Hard to know much about him, but i do know this: the office will not make appts with him, office staff rarely answer the phone, they are at best disinterested and at worst, downright rude. Twice (in 6 visits, so 33% of the time) they canceled my parents' appts AND NEVER TOLD US. It is not easy to get them into the car (as i am sure it is difficult for many patients seeing a neurologist) and down to Ormond (we don't live there), but the staff could not care less. they simply cancel appts, sometimes re-scheduling them for another day / time and sometimes simply cancelling the appt altogether. ALL WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE PATIENT. Once the receptionist told me we were "no -shows" and was downright rude to us--i handed her THEIR appt card, showing that we were there when we were supposed to be. no apology, she barely looked at it and repeated that we had no appt. You will… not see the dr and the practice is the worst i have had to deal with in 8 yrs of handling my parents' medical needs.

I’ve had 4 appointments one of which was canceled a hour before was the one I was promised to see the Dr, every time I have been seen by his PA Renaulta, who has been consistently condescending, rude and if you should bother with a question treats it as an insult. I have another appointment in 6 weeks in which I’m sure I can look forward to more of the same. Ive recently been diagnosed, and brought my husband with me my first visit, who she informed not come back. I want to change Drs but these are the only listed, i am strongly considering changing insurance companies (we have a small business) when our contact is up for only this reason. I have never encountered so many blantly rude and uncaring people in one office from appointments, refills, check out etc. in one office, the only bright point was Alissa the assistant, I doubt she will last long. If you have a choice , run to someone else. I chalked up the bad reviews to disgruntled patients and you can’t make everyone happy… however I’m writing this review as one who has lived it. You walk out of there frustrated, disheartened and beaten down.

Dr. Garewal is amazing. He has the rare skill to make one feel truly cared for.

I have not seen this doctor and never will. I call this specialist to make an appointment. First question. “What is my insurance”. Well, I am a golden calf, I have more than I need, so I pass that test. Then I tell them I was just in ER and they gave me a referral to see your doc. OK here it comes, They said they can not make an appointment unless I am referred from my primary. I said I don’t have one I just moved here. I said I was referred by the hospital! Office said, Since I wasnt seen by one of their Doctors in the hospital, I MUST be referred by my primary. I told them since it will take me months to establish a new primary, I will just suffer. They hung up!

Horrible, have been trying to just get someone to answer the phone. Never had a Doctors office not answer a phone.
