Dr. Mark Owen Finnegan, MD

Dr. Finnegan saved my life. He delivered my son via cesarean in January 2022 and my daughter via cesarean hysterectomy in January 2024. I high risk diagnosis known as placenta accreta which can lead to hemorrhaging. I did end up bleeding a lot during the procedure and ended up in the ICU intubated. I wouldn’t have made it through without Dr. Finnegan and his amazing team. Both my daughter and I are alive and well because of him. He’s the doctor you want if you’re a high risk pregnancy. He never once made me feel like we weren’t going to get through this surgery and be okay. I’m lucky to have him as my OB.

Do not allow this man into your delivery room. He is horrific, condescending, and does not care about the patient in the slightest. At my sister’s birth he attempted to order her fentanyl without her consent, he rolled his eyes and left the room when she said she did not want to push on her back, he shoved her legs aside carelessly and repeatedly while they were in stirrups for tear repair after delivery and she could feel everything, and during the repair he stated multiple times “well that’s as good as it’s gonna get” and proceeded to laugh with the other attending whose name I did not get. His OB group should drop him, he is bad for their reputation. Save yourself the trauma and request a different OB if he is assigned to you during your delivery.

Dr. Finnegan delivered my baby but from the moment he entered my hospital room he lacked any bedside manner. I had been in labor from morning until early evening. Within a minute of entering my room he read my chart and indicated that I need a c-section without any discussion with me and then proceeded to exit my hospital room. My baby and were both healthy but my baby's head was not it the right position. The nurses were my heroes and gently massaged my stomach/pelvic area so that I was able to deliver my baby without surgery. If I followed Dr. Finnegan's sub par medical guidance I would have unnecessary surgery and required weeks to heal as a first time new mother. He was more concerned about cutting me open to make his day easier instead of speaking with me & my husband to discuss our delivery options. I would strongly recommend any expectant mother not to receive care from this OBGYN.

I was scheduled for a D&E, as a result of a miscarriage, with Dr. Finnegan as my primary OB was unavailable on that particular day. I was very uncomfortable having someone other than my OB complete the procedure, but I did not have a choice due to the urgent nature. Before my procedure, Dr. Finnegan came to speak with me briefly. I found him to be unaccommodating, detached, and fickle. Waiting for the procedure, I was in shock, grieving the loss of my baby, and terrified but he was very insensitive to that. I asked if we could do another ultrasound before the procedure and he said "no, we don't have time. Once a miscarriage is diagnosed, that's the final result". I also asked if we could test the fetus and he responded saying "I guess we can, if you would like. Typically, a miscarriage is a result of a chromosomal abnormality and we don't test the fetus. It also takes two weeks to complete the testing". I shouldn't have to ask a surgeon twice to test the fetus when I was very clear… that I wanted it done. After the procedure, Dr. Finnegan did not check on me. The days following, he also did not call to check on me. In fact, I had to call the hospital two weeks later to ask if the test results were in. Once again, no call from Dr. Finnegan to read the results. I had to contact my primary OB to have the results read to me. My diagnosis was a partial molar pregnancy. If I had not insisted to have the fetus tested, this would have been unknown and potentially caused major complications. Due to the nature of the procedure, I expected Dr. Finnegan to be sensitive and kind. However, he was the exact opposite. I don't believe he should be treating or operating on any woman with his attitude and demeanor. I would never want a woman in my situation to experience his unpleasant nature. In the future, I will refuse to be seen by this doctor.

Dr. Finnegan has very cold and disconnected bedside manor. As an OB/Gyn I would not recommend him as his does not appear to be invested in his patients.

I had a bad experience with a gyn at Delaware County Hospital after having my first child. I left soon after and went to Lankenau hospital to a new gyn. I met Dr. Finnegan. He was so nice, and made me feel comfortable. I then had my second child and Dr. Finnegan performed a C-section. He made me feel comfortable and took very good care of every step and detail. He is very personable. He still by far is the best Gyn! He has been my gyn for 10 years. He handles each patient with great care. He doesn't rush you. He listens and is genuine! "Finn" as I like to call him, is down to earth,very sharp and knowledgeable. You don't feel like just another person. His staff is also very professional, and the office is immaculate! I say, if your going to worry and base your judgement on how long you wait, you can get in right away and be rushed out with another doctor that has not time for your concerns. I waited a very short time to see Dr. Finnegan and his focus is on you at that moment. … I trust him and I know that I am in good hands each and every time. He even answered personal questions I felt embarrassed to ask, but again, he makes you feel at ease. I am so glad to have him as my gyn, and Highly recommend him to my family and friends or whoever is looking for an ob/ gyn.

When i was 31 years old Dr Finnegan had to preform a total hysterectomy on me. He did a great job and so compassionate and i had hi. For years from Fitzgerald to riddle hospital. I wish i still had him he is the best GYN i ever had.

I went for my gynecological appointment,and was kept waiting for more than 15 minuest. When he came, I asked him about the wait time and he replied very rudely and recommended that if I needed to go elsewhere I can always cancel the appointment.To me that was very rude coming from my doctore especially being pregnant and I expected at the very least a courteous reply.I cant imagine having him help me to give birth.

Dr. Finnegan is the 4th gynecologist that I've had, and undoubtedly the best. He is extremely knowledgeable and seems to enjoy imparting his knowledge so that you understand your condition and are comfortable with all procedures. He is also quick to smile and engage you in conversation unrelated to your condition, which contributes to comfort. The wait time is worth it for his expertise, professionalism, and bedside manner.

I was just searching for Dr. Finnegan to get his contact info and this popped up. He is by far the best doctor i've ever had and have the pleasure of knowing..
