Dr. Patrick Joseph Riddle, MD

I'm so enraged by this place. The first red flag was that when I had to schedule my son’s appointment, I had to go through a phone tree to get to a human. Anyways, we intentionally scheduled an appointment for my 13 month old at 930 in the morning assuming there would be a limited wait. That was a poor assumption. We arrived early and were quickly brushed off to a kiosk to enter our information. At 920, we were taken back for general intake. The intake person didn't know why we were there (referral from our doctor). Once she was done, she took us to another waiting room in the back because "the doctor didn't have any available rooms" at the time. She didn’t provide any details. After following my son around the office for 30 minutes, we were brought to a room and told we were the “next patient.” As I learned this am, “next” relative. We waited another 15 minutes and then I went to the front desk to get more details. One of the nurses went to talk to Dr. Riddle and as I came around the… corner she said “you are next.” When I asked her what that meant, she looked at me like ‘how dare you ask me that?’ I think it was a fair question. So 50 minutes in, we finally see the doctor. He comes in and starts referring to my son as a girl. He’s clearly wearing a shirt that says “little dude” and even after we corrected him he kept doing it. Dr. Riddle had not looked at our charts ahead of time so he didn’t know why we were there either. He then proceeded to tell us that he needed to dilate my son’s eyes and that would take 20-30 minutes and we didn’t know how long it would last. What the heck? You’re the doctor. You’re supposed to know these things. I can’t exactly send my son to daycare if he’s having a hard time seeing. To say the least, my son had had a enough and we left. I get that emergencies come up and the doctor gets pulled away but this office needs to reconsider their policy for assigning doctors a full load of patients and then putting them on call for emergencies.

I highly recommend Dr. Riddle. He diagnosed a detached retina and referred us to Dr. Chang (Peabody / Burlington) MA. Dr. Riddle takes time with his patience and takes time to explain diagnosis.

He always does an excellent job and will make suggestions, leaving it up to you. My visits to him have always been to perfection, not like the place I used to go in Manchester and you were pushed out so fast instead of an optician taking his time. Dr. Riddle is a true professional Ophthalmologist.

I had a problem that was created by a local Optometrist. I was forced to see an Ophthamologist because I was getting nowhere with the Optometrist. No luck with this one. Totally frustrated, I decided to try another Opthomologist and found Dr. Riddle. Just as I was beginning to loose faith in Dr.s, I found this wonderful Practitioner. He listened to me. He used logic and skill to diagnose my problem. So far, so good.Don't trust your eyes to anyone. Something as simple as a poorly fitted contact lense can be disasterous to the health of your eyes!Beware of bad Optometrists!
