Dr. Phillip W. Bennion, MD

My entire experience, from evaluation to post op follow up, has been nothing short of great. He did a thorough job of explaining my surgical options. My surgery and recovery went much smoother than I could have ever imagined. And my follow up appointment, and future treatment plan, makes me feel that I will make nothing short of a full recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Bennion to anyone needing a highly skilled, personable and professional surgeon. Joe T.

From the very beginning, they told me how bad my shoulder was but told me that they could only give me the same pain medication that my daughter got for her sore tooth. I went back to them 25 days later saying my pain was as excruciating as the first day. They told me that they now, were going to reduce my pain medication. For the next 20 days, just like the first 25 days, I was in more pain than I have ever experienced. Originally, I was told not to take my arm from my sling for 6 weeks. Look up the normal time that should happen. That’s how bad my shoulder was. Never again to this group!!!

i made my appointment with Dr. Bennion and after checking and waiting 1 1/2 hours, i was told that Dr. Bennion is running behind and I could see the Physician's Assistant -- Not acceptable.

I sit in the waiting room for 1-1/2 hours before leaving. I was never approached by his staff the whole time. this after waiting 3 weeks for a appointment.

I have to agree with Mr. Beal. The guy may be a good surgeon (I'll never know) but the place is very poorly run & the people are uncaring and unprofessional. They require you to be there 30 minutes early for your appointment (ostensibly for paperwork) but they don't acknowledge you when you sign in and take about 10 minutes to even call you over to give you the paperwork (which is extensive and can't be completed in that time if you have more than a simple concern). It was at least 20 minutes past my appointment before I was taken to x-ray (paperwork had been turned in - wasn't my delay), another 20 minutes or so to get to an exam room and then another 40 minutes before the doctor swooped in. He spent 5 minutes, left, came back & spent 7 minutes, in which time he administered a shot (which I kept saying I didn't want) and to dictate his notes into his recorder. (Yes, your appointment time is spent with him dictating his report - and having to stop, correct, look things up,… etc.) He was flip, condescending, arrogant, and did not look at the paperwork or allergies before treating. He literally pulled the, "I'm a shoulder expert - I know more than..." He obviously got exasperated at questions, which he never answered adequately. It was clear that my time was worth nothing and I wasn't worth his time. I know Hedley supposedly treats the Suns & Mercury. Maybe "regular folk" are beneath them? I don't mind a wait for a good doctor that's going to allocate the appropriate time and attention. (Good doctors spend extra time and end up behind and it's worth it. I had a great ophthalmologist. You just knew that she was chronically 45 minutes behind & scheduled your day accordingly. It was worth it.) There's no way I'd go back and have this guy get paid to treat me so poorly again.

I fell down in LA. They butchered me in the operating room over there. When I returned to Phoenix, Dr. Bennion did not have to take me as a patient. However, he is so caring, compassionate, he gave me a new shoulder! Without him, I would have no usage of my arm. He called it a "rough salvage," but he did it! He knows his stuff!!! I would recommend him to any family or friend.
