Dr. Richard Ki Kim, MD

I’ve been Dr. Kim’s patient for a few years now, and have found that in every visit he is prepared, recalls our precious conversations, asks pertinent and informed questions, and is always focused. He approaches his practice as both a dedicated professional, and a caring advisor. Our work together continues to evolve as Dr. Kim considers and suggests potentially beneficial modes of treatment including pharmacological, meditation, group and individual therapy, and other relatively new and innovative options. He treats me with respect, asking sometimes tough (but necessary) questions, and is responsive to my inquiries between appointments. I am grateful for his care. Michael

Dr. Kim is thoughtful and easy to talk to. He’s incredibly flexible and his staff is very prompt and helpful in scheduling appointments. When I had to cancel and wasn’t able to make to a few of my appointments, he took the time to follow-up personally with me and make sure my prescription was filled and see if I needed anything. Also I really appreciate the way he uses biblical truth and prayer in our therapy sessions. He’s also so kind in recommending relevant outside resources to help me on my journey. I’m thankful for his insight and guidance during a difficult time in my life. He’s one of the best doctors I’ve found in the area— highly recommend !

I've been seeing Dr Kim for over a year. I have experience with other psychiatrists and Dr Kim is by far the best of the bunch. He is professional, knowledgeable, conscientious and caring. He's always on time with appointments yet never rushed when with a patient. I would recommend Dr Kim without hesitation.

We consulted Dr. Kim because my wife was experiencing severe depression and anxiety. He was not quick to recommend medications but suggested therapy first, and she has gotten so much better with his help. We can't thank him enough.

I very highly recommend Dr. Kim. I actually started seeing him several years ago when he was working for Inova. When I first came to him I was not doing very well. He was very thorough in educating me as to what was going on and the options that were available to me. We worked closely together to find the right medications and dosing and I have been doing great on these ever since. After he left Inova I was switched to a few different doctors over the next couple of years. After having some negative experiences with one of the doctors and staff at Inova, including a lot of hassle and poor communication, I searched out Dr. Kim. Even though he was no longer accepting insurance, I felt that it was worth it to pay the cost to see him since he helped me a great deal and I am comfortable with his professionalism and expertise. I can honestly say that he is one of the only doctors I would go out of my insurance network to see - he is that great. Furthermore, he has an excellent bedside manner… and is easy to talk to. This is a rare combination to find in a doctor that practices psychiatry. I think this is why he is also an excellent therapist. I cannot recommend him highly enough to someone searching for a psychiatrist or therapist.

I have been seeing Dr. Kim since May 2017 and have appreciated his kindness and compassion in helping me through a difficult life transition. He is very flexible and has office hours on Saturday which are a plus. Additionally, in the times when I don't see him (I see him on a 3-month schedule), he always promptly sends prescriptions to my pharmacy. Would highly recommend him!

Dr. Kim is caring and kind. He is knowledgeable about meds needed to alleviate depression and willing to work with patient to find drugs that help. Dr. Kim is always professional, on time and available in office, online and Skype. I would recommend him.

He is thorough and has been extraordinarily helpful and I'm very glad that I've been able to see him for the rough times I've been going through. He has always been consistent in our meetings about following up with whatever we last talked about, and has been able to point out to me points relevant to my own situation that are pretty important when taking a prescription.

I had a major depression episode in 2017. Couldn't even get out of my bed. Saw another doctor but my condition worsened after that doctor put me on 4-5 types of drugs at the same time. Dr. Kim stabilized my condition by simplifying my drug regimen. He also suggest me see a psychologist which helped my condition too.
