Was her patient for several years. Am overweight and she, as many thought that meant I'm lazy or do nothing, when in fact, I was quite active. Had to fight with her to get treatment as all she was concerned about was weight. #1- had to fight to get referral to orthopedic for injured leg. If I'd just exercise and lose weight my leg wouldn't hurt. Turned out I had torn meniscus that had to be removed. #2- went 4 months complaining of rectal bleeding, acted like I didn't know the difference bet my vagina and rectum. Finally did exam and told me I had hemorrhoids. Fought again for referral for colonoscopy and turned out to have ulcerative colitis and ended up in hospital days after procedure! Made a formal complaint to Blue Cross Blue Shield, basically telling them that if I had been properly diagnosed and treated by Rita Shah, I probably wouldn't be in hospital. Changed doctors immediately after this. UC was critical enough that within 2 years needed to remove colon.

This review is for Dr. Rita Shah, not for Dr. Sangeeta Shah, the pediatrician who also works in the same facility as Rita Shah. Some of the glowing reviews for Rita Shah were actually intended for Sangeeta Shah, so the star rating is inaccurate. Dr. Sangeeta Shah does not knock before entering the examination room. She is not a particularly friendly doctor and does not acknowledge greetings from her patient. She did not wash her hands before examining me. When talking to her, her nurse came in handing her the phone, thus interrupting our conversation. She reacted to my skin condition with disdain, simply telling me to see a dermatologist- very unprofessional in her manner. She is a doctor of few words. Unless the patient asks her questions, she will not volunteer to tell you how to manage your health condition. It is unfortunate that she is getting good reviews that were really intended for another physician who just so happens to share the same last name and works in the same… ARC facility as her.
