Dr. Robert Leon Masson, MD

Dr. Masson is one of the most intelligent and best physicians and surgeons I have ever seen!! He is complete, down to earth, and we discussed my case, both pre-operatively and post-operatively in great detail. Our interactions were intelligent, at a level that anyone could easily understand. His ability, outside the box, mirrors mine, and conveying that was seamless!! He was recommended by my last neurosurgeon as being the best technical and adept neurosurgeon he had ever met! I have the greatest respect for both! He is professional and compassionate, and from me, a physician, is a difficult level to achieve, as I know and have seen the best!!

My experience with Dr Masson and his staff was superior. I first met with the office staff who were kind, courteous and caring. I met with the Physicians Assistant and he explained my condition to me. He brought in Dr Masson to review my MRI findings. I was definitely a candidate for fusion surgery at the L2-L3 level. Fusion that was supposedly done was wrong area pain is unbearable it's been 5 yrs. just keep getting worse after surgery you never see him again just his goofy PA'S which are a joke told me nothing would help me put some metal in your back got another opinion and was told that would not help stay clear if your smart left me screwed up for life...…

After two fusions over the past 30 days and some complications along the way, Dr. Masson and his team were clearly most interested in doing anything and everything necessary to get the ultimate result for me and my future health. Let's be clear, he is all business and determined to solve the issue at hand. The best patient will be the one that comes prepared for the first appointment with imagery in hand and in need of services from a world class surgeon like this. If you are just fishing for a review of your situation and you are not at the point of surgery being a serious consideration after having exhausted medical reviews by other physicians, this might not be the office for you. The PAs play an integral role throughout the process due to… their expertise and the team approach to Dr. Masson's care of patients. Dr. Masson is a surgeon first and foremost and is clearly one of the best in the world at what he does. I am proud to be one of Dr. Masson's patients and wholeheartedly support and recommend him and his practice to anyone who is in need of neurological surgery services for the back and spine. I had 3 back surgeries before meeting Dr. Masson and am very thankful that I met him when I did and travel over 4 hours to see him and have surgery at Health Central Hospital's 10 Bed Specialty Ortho Spine Unit. Beware. Dr. Masson did a L3-S1 Spinal Fusion in Feb. 2017 at Health Central, the area budget hospital where my experience was not positive. The surgery was not successful. There was originally retrolisthesis at L2-L3 which Dr. Masson would not treat at the time of the surgery. Now, I have to have a repair fusion surgery of L2-S1 due to the fact that I have a pseudoarthrosis (non-union) of the fusion between L5 and S1, a loose screw and fractures in S1, and a worsening of the retrolisthesis at L2-L3. The repair surgery will be done by an orthopaedic surgeon at another hospital.

If not for Dr. Masson, I would still be fighting the insurance company to get my neck fixed. He did a great job and I appreciate all he did for me.

Dr did the surgery without even checking with my family dr to see if I had any problems. As it turned out I had osteoperosis of the spine which he never even checked and my surgery did not fuse. After 13 months of terrible pain that I did not have before the surgery. He told me it had fused and took the hardware out. I suffered and am still suffering, because it is to painfull to do anything. about one year later a top orthopedic surgeo in Miami found that it never fused. I am now on pain med on a regular basis which was not the case before the surgery. I would not recommend this doctor to any one and it is impossible to get to see him after the surgery you have to see his P/A and they put up a wall so you cant get to see the dr unless you want another surgery Stay ayay from this guy all of his good reviews are old and from the lucky ones.

I have been to many doctors and had many surgeries but have never had surgery only to never see the surgeon again. Just a money maker setup. If you plan on seeing the doctor move on because it will never happen in this office. The PA's run the office and you cant even get an appt till they review your reports and decide if you will be a money maker for them and then you get sucked into the bone stimulator that is useless and you pay a lot of money for it because the insurance wont pay. Beware.

Dr Masson gave me great advice in waiting for my surgery. The steroid shot is not working any longer. It's time for me to have fusion on L2 and L3. On both visits Dr Masson spoke to me in person.

I cannot say enough about Dr Masson and his very knowledgeable staff members, especially Wayne.I had a cervical fusion done in Aug, in addition to several other issues they addressed during surgery, like bone spurs and severe stenosis. The doc is a prince among surgeons, all was perfect, including the recuperation period, wound healing and everything associated with the surgery. I have never waited for an appt, they are VERY punctual every single time. So the staff is not as friendly as they can be...big deal. I prefer an excellent doctor, savvy and prepared to a friendly staff.All in all, best experience for cervical surgery. Highly recommend this doctor and this office!
