Dr. Seth Mark Berney, MD

There is a reason Dr. Berney is the best in town. He gave me his complete attention, was very detailed in trying help me. I felt listened to, and that I was in safe hands. He is a kind man. Excellent doctor. Just do the footwork the clinic asks for ahead of time. That helps them help you.

My rheumatologist left UAMS and I got rescheduled with this Dr Berney. I went for the appointment and I have never been talked to so rudely by any other doctor before. I’ve been a patient there for many years and never any other problems at all. I won’t go into all the details but I left there in tears asking for my medical records. I would never ever go back to see him. He disregard to treating me like a human being was overwhelming and offensive.

I was rescheduled with Dr Berney after my long time rheumatologist left UAMS. This Dr Berney did not treat me with dignity and was overbearing and extremely rude. To make a long story short I ended up walking out in tears before my appointment was even over. I will be filing a formal complaint due to the nature of his comments. My advice is to stay away from this person.

This man walked in the room and told my mother she doesn’t have ra with no test to back up his reason why she doesn’t have ra. She has been on medicine for the ra going on 5 years and all he was worried about was if she had a std she didn’t know about, he was very rude he kept saying she wasn’t swollen but we know she is swollen for a fact a women only weighing 110 should not have a knee of hands that look like they should be on a body of someone who weighs 300 lbs. I was very upset at the way he treated my mother. He even went as far as saying she had cancer without doing any test. Everything seemed like a joke to him every time me or my mom would ask a question he responded with a riddle. We came home knowing less than when we went to the appointment. I could not believe how he acted like he could care less. I would not go to him unless you have the whole appointment to explain why you have a terminal illness!

Dr. Berney was very rude and disrespectful .. I'll never come back again. Total waste of time. No bedside manners AT ALL!! I came for Rheum. issues w/ all info from other Dr.'s that had treated me. He let me know he "didn't look at anything other doctors say & that he would find out what was wrong by asking me questions", which were the same questions I filled out on the questionnaire online 2 days before my visit!! He tested me for every STD under the sun, BUT never did a Metabolic, CBC, C-Reactive, or Comprehensive Blood testing. Spent more time giving me definitions of "the feeling of swelling vs. seeing swelling." Told me & PCP to stop all Autoimmune drugs I was on & never gave me a diagnosis!! GRADE F- !!

I had my first appointment today since my last Rheumy retired. I’ve had RA for YEARS! He comes in tells me even though my blood work etc says I have it means nothing & that I don’t have anything wrong! He ran odd blood tests like std tests which I didn’t have. He didn’t even check my sed rate! Also he informed me he will take me off all my meds since I am perfectly fine! I won’t be going back!

Dr. Berney replaced my rheumatologist when she retired. The wait for my initial visit with Dr. Berney was two hours, BUT it was because the clinic's system wouldn't allow him to book all of his patients as new patients. It was well worth the wait. I was his last appointment of the day and he spent an hour and a half reviewing my medications and history. He is very thorough and is an excellent listener, picking up on several things I said and offering advice on easing my discomfort. What may come across as briskness to some, I attribute to keeping on topic, in order to troubleshoot and meet his patient's needs. He is very concerned about his patients and I have never felt brushed off or offended by his manner. I look forward to my visits with him and I always leave feeling my concerns have been addressed.

This was the worst experience I have had with a doctor and having multiple auto immune illnesses I have seen my fair share! I sat in the exam room for over an hour before anyone came in, he could be heard outside of my exam room berating the resident unfortunate enough to have to work with him. He came in the room and spent LESS than 5 min. with me and told me to come back when my joints were swollen then left the room. I live over THREE hours away! He never came back in the room, I finally left on my own after another 10 min. You would be better off going to a walk in clinic in a third world country and would probably get better care!

I had heard that Dr. Berney was the best in town at what he does, and they were not lying. I had suffered from severe chronic leg pain and had seen just about every specialist for it and no one could seem to find what it was. One blood test and Dr. Berney found the cause and after a year of suffering it is at a end. The wait was very very long to see the doctor but it is well worth it!!! He took plenty of time to talk to me and assess my symptoms. He is a very intelligent doctor, I would recommend him to anyone!!
