It is over a year since I had my first of two cataract operations. Prior to this I could not drive at night, could not read the largest of road signs and forget about reading mail box address. But Doctor Silas Wang and his professional and caring staff brought all of these problems to an end. His medical skills and concerned staff worked on both eyes and I now have 20-20 vision and most importantly can drive when ever I want. Thank you, Doctor Wang and your excellent staff, for a “Job Well Done” and a very happy patient.

I went to Mass Eye and Ear for a cataract surgery consultation. Dr. Wang was excellent, but after all of the tests were complete, and I was ready to discuss the surgery, he informed me that he does NOT do surgery. I was referred to another doctor in Waltham - associated with Mass Eye and Ear - who informed me that I will have to have all of the tests redone with her - even though they are part of Mass Eye and Ear. I am furious. I wasted the better part of a day seeing Dr. Wang, only to find that it was a complete waste of time. If you are planning to have cataract surgery done, make sure the doctor that does the analysis is actually going to perform the surgery. Or - make sure that the surgeon actually accepts all of the test results from the diagnosing doctor. Well - at least I will have a second opinion. Mass Eye and Ear should be more up front about what each doctor does, and does not do. Clearly show which doctors do perform surgery. I am VERY disappointed.

When it became necessary for me to have my deteriorating eye sight addressed I was told Mass. Eye & Ear is the choice for the best care. My experience with the two cataract operations proved my decision to select your hospital was correct. While I am not a sport nut, there is a definite comparison to the actions of Dr. Silas Wang’s medical team and a successful sports team. Everyone knew what is required of them to have a successful surgery and a happy patient. It reminds me of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger who safely landed US Airways plane on the freezing Hudson River with 150 passengers aboard. When Sully was called a hero by the press, he responded by saying he was not a hero but the safe landing was because everyone did their job! Doctor Wang and the staff of Mass. Eye and Ear did their job and I wish to say a sincere and appreciated Thank You!
