Dr. Steven A. Olson, MD

Dr. Olsen is a doctor who takes the time and listens to his patients’ issue. He and his staff are very professional and compassionate. He performed my hip replacement with great success. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs his specialities.

Dr. Olson did an anterior replacement on both of my hips. He is a very caring and professional surgeon who took time to answer all of my questions, did a superb job and now I am pain free and back to all of my activities. His promptness is less than optimum because he does spend all of the time necessary with each patient.

Dr. Olson is the best. He takes his time and never makes you feel like he is in a hurry. He cares about you as his patient and did an amazing job on my hip. When he is not available, his nurse his very good and prompt at answering all questions and concerns.

The review below puzzles me. From my experience as a patient, I know that Dr. Olson's standards for himself are so high, and his commitment to his patients is so deep, that he will push hiself to the limit to get the best possible outcome. While remaining very human: not always the strongest suit of orthopaedic surgeons!

Had a PAO by him. He is great, very caring. Felt I was treated wonderfully.

I had an anterior hip replacement done by Dr. Olson. It went very well and he was so easy to talk to when he saw me in the hospital after the surgery. You get the sense that you are making decisions together and not him just making unilateral decisions. All in all I am very happy with the experience and I would highly recommend Dr. Olson. His office staff is also great.

My daughter had traumatic pelvic injury, with multiple fractures after a horse rolled over her. No doctors in a Lexington,VA hospital would touch her. They referred us to Dr. Olson. With 3 small incisions, X-Ray pictures to guide him, and using no camera or blood transfusion, he re-attached her spine to her pelvis. She now walks with no pain or limp. He is truly the greatest doctor in our book.

Dr. Olson displays an excellent bedside manner and has gone the extra mile to help determine my problem and the best treatment for it. Duke providers seem to engage in excellent team work and colleagiality in the best interest of the patient.
