Dr. Thomas Edward Knox, MD

This man ruined my mothers life.. misdiagnosed her as bipolar when she actually had autism.. He prescribed her on a huge concoction of medications for two decades that she didn't even need in the first place, essentially so he could line his pockets. do yourself and your family and stay far away from him.

I saw Doctor Knox from 2006-2008. He was easy to talk, compassionate and incredibly intuitive. He helped me work through a lot of issues. There was a lot of medication switching and experimenting, in order to find which combination worked best for me, but I was ok with that. The end of our time together was abrupt and a bit traumatic. Basically, I disagreed with the next step of my treatment and he kicked me out of his practice. It’s resulted in me not having been able to see another psychologist. Years later, I can understand his perspective a little better, but ouch! I would still recommend him. Just keep in mind that you might get booted at some point.

While he is nice to speak to, the visits were usually less than 10 minutes, which is ridiculous considering the money spent on the services. He had me on a very high dose of an SSRI way too quickly, I ended up going off due to side effects. Today, over 3 years later, I am suffering the effects of PSSD from the medication, and he never once followed up with me.

Dr. Knox is compassionate, professional, and empathic. I highly recommend him.

I was treated by Dr. Knox from 1994 to 2007. My visits with him often involved shifts in medication. Dosages were often adjusted and/or products were added or taken away. I sometimes asked him to explain why and how the medications worked and expressed skepticism as to whether new medications were in my best interest. Once or twice, maybe more, he responded "trust me". This lack of ability, or desire, to explain his treatment plan for me was unsatisfactory. In 2011 I phoned his office asking for a copy of my medical records. I recall receiving a hand written note in response. He seemed reticent to provide the records directly to me.

Dr. Knox is just exactly what I needed. I only wish I had found him decades earlier, although who knows if his procedures, or my attitude would have matched up then. He listens, remembers, and genuinely seems to care. I've gone from self destructive behavior to a far more peaceful, and highly productive place. I would imagine that a patient of Doctor Knox or any similar doctor will benefit hugely from WANTING to to get better, rather than fighting the process, or coming in defensive. He will be blunt (in a gentle positive kind of way) when I need it, and when I started with him, I needed it. I can't recommend highly enough.

Dr. Knox is incredibly intuitive. He is a caring physician. He is truthful and will quickly admit if he is mistaken. He has helped me live a full, happy and productive life.

I thought I had found a great doc -- the first few visits were really good. We both expressed a feeling of being able to work well together. One day, without warning, he kicked me out of his practice with no real explanation. (As implausible as that sounds, it's the truth.) He might be a good doctor for a certain kind of patient, but he left me feeling confused & emotionally shafted at a time when I was already feeling vulnerable.
