Dr. Thomas Alan Miklusak, MD

I am a psychiatrist and have been practicing psychiatry for the past 30 years. I have been Dr. Miklusak's patient since 2007. I have gone through a very difficult divorce from a punishing lawyer(my ex), and had two of my children also treated by him. My daughter went from being a lost, angry high school drop out to studying for her LSAT and in a loving relationship now. My son has also come home, with the love he taught me to give. I don't know who is writing these scathing, false evaluations about him. I am truly saddened to see a dedicated, caring and competent psychiatrist who has sacrificed so much for so long misunderstood. As a psychiatrist working in a different setting, I can't imagine what it takes to be ON CALL for ALL the patients ALL the time! (or else have a someone else to cover you) He has been there for me and my children. He will be there for you too. As for his wife Chris, whatever the billing problem occurred was probably an error. I have had an incident… happen, but when it was brought up to her attention, she corrected it ASAP. She is also a very loving, caring person. I am sad to see these negative reviews, and can't help but to think that it must be one or two people

He involved his wife Chris in my treatment and she became very resentful of me. Grabbing the phone from my hand when I would try to call Dr. Miklusak in stressful situations. She ultimately forced him to choose her or me. I was his patient for 7 years and I was abandoned with no notice. He just wouldn’t take my phone calls one day and then I get a fed ex overnight letter saying he must stop treatment. He and his wife were unable to control their bad behaviors and I suffered. His wife Chris Miklusak is a former social worker and runs tailor made personal care. My story should be a cautionary tale.

I was seeing Dr. Miklusak for 3-4 years, back in the 90's. I was 10 y.o. when I started going to him, because he kept telling my father he was making progress, which was B.S., my dad spent over 100k sending me to him, instead of listening to me, when I said that he was noneffective, offered no advice, and if he was any good, he would have said to my dad, "you should be included these sessions, to develop better communication with your daughter." He and I were alone a lot of the time, and he was very creepy! He was always suggesting to me that I had feeling for him. (Yuck!) I was a child. DO NOT leave your kids alone with this man, he's a nut job. He even slammed me against the wall once when he lost his temper with me. (Yeah, you know who I am now, don't you Dr. M... Unless I wasn't the only one.) Frankly, even though he came highly recommended, all of our session "were private," therefore he never discussed them with my mother or father, to help them understand me better. He'd use… that phrase as a fall-back to keep them in the dark, and keep charging them outrageous costs. He Did Not Help! I lacked simple social skills, as a lot of shy kids do. He could have said to my parents, let her join a team, like an after-school activity; that would been effective, but no, that would've defeated the purpose of making money. Again, he was a very creepy doctor, non-effective, and kept upping the rates.

In response to the previous poster-I would love to provide you with his billing statements. He increased his fees from $200 a month to $260 a month after some quack IME felt my husband's son should continue to see him. This is all while his son had insurance and Miklusak was a network provider and could only actually bill about $120 (now less) at the time. He was billing between $4000 - $5000 a month. Does that seem reasonable to you? So either miklusak is incompetent and doesn't know about insurance or he's a con man. We are still unsure. BTW his son is no more funtional today than he was five years ago. I will swear on the mighty Lord himself this is the truth. I will not provide identifying information as it would go against HIIPA.

I'm assuming since you don't have to "sign in" to this website with a profile name, etc. that the other reviews (which seem the same-minus one) are actually the same person.I found Dr. Miklusak to have a great bedside manner and immediately effective with my diagnosis and treatment. He took my insurance and there hasn't been a problem in the past five months. Also not sure where the 'other' reviewers are getting the "average 30 minute wait time" since he has NEVER had me wait longer than 5 minutes...once in FIVE months! He's an excellent doctor and as I'm sure everyone is different, it has to be a right fit with personality and approach and for me, I found it.

It is doctors like Miklusak that give pychiatrist a bad reputation. I also feel he is highly unethical in his treatment, or lack thereof, of patients. If he is incapable of helping a patient function in society he should refer them to someone who can.

This man is not well himself. He charged my husband's son $260 dollars an hour, when his website on psychology today has his rates at $150-200/hr. His disorganized staff sent us another patients bill and they were only being charged $120/hr. He billed for almost $5000 a month at one time. It's ridiculous. This man has changed my view on the field of psychiatry. I know there are some really good psychiatrist out there who truly have the patients best interest at heart, but I don't think he is one of them.

Dr Miklusak is an attentive psychiatrist who genuinely wants to help his patients get better. My experience after a couple of visits has been positive and I would recommend him to anyone who has had a bad experience with a psych. I have been to many who don't care and just do it for money. He also takes health insurance while most psychs do not.

Incompetent and unethical person. He over-charges his patients and I believe he engages in balance billing.
